Supreme Court Informed The Parliamentary Speaker That Some Sections Of Right To Information Draft Bill Are Not Consistent With Constitution

The Supreme Court has informed the Parliament that some sections of the Right To Information Draft Bill are not consistent with constitution and it needs two thirds majority to pass in Parliament the speaker Karu Jayasuriya has announced in Parliament yesterday(03).

The Right To Information Draft Bill which was presented to the Parliament by Minister Of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake on 24th of March had received positive responses from all the nine provinces to go ahead.

The Draft Bill provides specific grounds on which access may be denied the establishment of Right To Information Commission,setting out the procedures for obtaining information and  things related.


Parliamentary Proceedings Were Adjourned By The Speaker Due To A Brawl Occurred At The House Today(03)

Image result for sri lanka parliamentThe  Parliamentary Proceedings held today (03) was adjourned after few hours due to a tense situation occurred at a house following a brawl between a group of government and opposition MP's.

As a result of the brawl the Kegalle District MP of governing United National Party(UNP) Sandith Samarasinghe got injured and admitted to Colombo National Hospital it has been reported.

The brawl has occurred when the Minister of Regional Development Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has made a statement  regarding the withdrawal of Army Personal from former president Mahinda Rajapaksha and replace with special task force officers.During Field Marshal Fonseka's speech several joint opposition MP's have raised objections followed by brawl.

Due to the tense situation speaker Karu Jayasuriya  adjourned Parliament till tomorrow and requested a report from deputy speaker and the deputy chairman of committees regarding the tense situation in Parliament.The speaker has informed the Parliament that an action will be taken against MP's who involved in the brawl,

Five Persons Remanded Over the Demolishing Of Jogging Track In Wattala

The Wattala(In Colombo) Police have today (03) detained five individuals regarding allegedly demolishing the jogging track in Wattala recently .

The five suspects have been later produced before the Mahara Magistrate Court and remanded until 10th of May .

Due To A Landslide Occurred At Balangoda A Buddhist Temple Had Been Sub Merged

Due to a landslide occurred in Pambahinna,Niyandagala at Balangoda Area(Rathnapura District) today(03) a Buddhist Temple in the area had been sub merged it has been reported.

A Buddhist Monk who was residing in the temple is reported as missing following the landslide the Police have stated.The Balangoda Police and Police Officers attached to Samanalawewa Police Check Point are reported as launching a search operation to find the missing monk.

The Police have taken steps to evacuate the people residing in foot of the mountain area where the landslide has occurred.

The Landslide  occurred due to the continuous heavy showers  prevailing  in the area since last few days the Police have said,The Disaster Management Center has earlier predicted the area as vulnerable to landslides .
