Constitutional Council Had Nominated Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundara For The IGP Post

The Constitutional  Council has today(18) nominated the Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) in charge of Western Province Pujitha Jayasundara for the vacant post of Inspector General Of Police (IGP).

The majority of members belonging to Constitutional Council which met this evening at Parliamentary Premises has decided to nominate Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundara for the IGP Post  and sent their decision to President Maithripala Sirisena it has been reported.

All the three Senior DIG's proposed for the IGP post were present during today's Constitutional Council meeting.

One Indian National Arrested Over An Ilegal Kidney Racket Escaped From Custody

One of the Eight Indian Nationals detained over Illegal Kidney Transplant Racket operated between Sri Lanka and India has today(18) escaped from custody of Mirihana Special Detention Center according to the Colombo Crimes Division Officials.

The Colombo Crimes Division has informed the Colombo Magistrate Court today(18). on the escape of an  Indian National from it's custody. .

Eight Indian Nationals were arrested by the Police few weeks ago at Wellawatta (In Colombo) in suspicion of their involvement on the kidney racket..

Through a medical examination it has been revealed that the majority of these Indian Nationals have donated one of their kidneys under the illegal kidney transplant racket..

Consumer Affairs Authority Has Made 2000 Raids At Stalls During Festive Season

The Consumer Affairs Authority has made around 2000 raids at stalls island wide during the festive season from 21st of March to 12th of April according to the Authority.

The raids have been carried out regarding selling consumer goods for higher prices,not indicating the prices of goods,selling outdated products and changing details of goods the Consumer Affairs Authority has stated.

The Authority is due to file legal cases against errant traders during coming week it has been reported.

Police Detained Two Bangladeshi Nationals Who Stayed In Sri Lanka Illegally

The Police have yesterday (17) arrested two Bangladeshi Nationals who stayed in Sri Lanka by violating immigration and emigration laws it has  been reported.

Wariyapola Police Officers have made these arrests at Wariyapola,Minuwangate Area according to an information received by the Police.

The suspected Bangladeshi Nationals arrived in Sri Lanka from Tourist Visas and they are due to be produced before Wariyapola Magistrate Court.
