Rs.40 Billion -Megapolis Development Plan Of Western Province Had Launched Yesterday(29)

The Rs.40 Billion worth Megapolis  Development Plan of the Western Province has been launched yesterday (29) at the Independence Square in Colombo.

This Megapolis  Development Plan which covers the entire Western Province  is due to be carried out  for a 15 year period under three phases .Under this Plan all the districts in  Western Province including Colombo,Gampaha And Kalutara will be developed as a Mega Town based on City Of Colombo .

Achieving Economic Prosperity,Ensure Environmental Conservation,Establish Social Justice and creating of a spiritual human are the four main objectives of this Megapolis Development Plan Of Western Province according to the government.

Around 150 Projects are scheduled to be implemented under ten themes to achieve these objectives .

The Government is expecting to extend this Megapolis Development Plan to other parts of the country as well in future.

Former President Gave An Evidence Before Presidential Commission

The former president Mahinda Rajapakshe has yesterday(29) appeared before the Presidential Commission Of Inquiry to Investigate And Inquire Into Serious  Acts Of Fraud ,Corruption And Abuse Of Power,State Resources And Privileges to give an evidence on an alleged financial irregularity  occurred during his tenure.

 The former president has gave an evidence  on  the complaint received by Presidential Commission regarding not settling the bills of Presidential Election Advertisements given by  his party United Peoples Freedom Alliance which telecast over a state electronic media channel during the Presidential Election Campaign.

South African Graham Ford Has Been Appointed As The New Cricket Coach Of Sri Lankan National Cricket Team

Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed the South African born Cricket Coach Graham Ford as the new Coach of Sri Lankan National Cricket Team for a 45 month Period with effect from 01st of February.

The 55 year old Ford has coached Sri Lankan Cricket Team during 2012-2014 period before taking up coaching position of  Surrey County in England.

As Sri Lankan National Cricket Team performed poorly during recent series of matches against other countries under local cricket coaches, Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to getting the service of a foreign coach for the team.

Graham Ford has guided the Surrey County to emerged as the country championship second division  title.
