A Special Programme On Forwarding Questions To President Has Been Launched

A special programme which enable the public to ask questions directly from  President Maithripala Sirsene called "Tell The  President" has been launched today(08) by the President's Office to commemorate the first anniversary of president sirisena in office.

People  can have  access this programme daily by dialing the emergency number "1919" and  select a preference language and entering the number" 2" according to President's Media Unit.

People can forward their questions through online as well as posting the questions to postal number 123  the Unit has stressed.

Rajarata University Students Have Conducted A Protest Campaign By Demanding Mahapola Scholrship Fee For The First Year Students

A Group of Students attached to Rajarata University(In North Central Province) have conducted  a protest campaign today(08) by demanding to grant  Mahapola Scholarship Fee for  first year students of the  University which the authorities have failed to pay .

The first year university students attached to the Rajarata University with economic difficulties are in difficult situation due to the non payment of Mahapola Scholarship Fee according to Rajarata University Students Union.

Sri Lankan Who Attempted To Smuggle 41 Live Tortoises To Thailand Has Been Arrested At The Air Port

Image result for sri lankan tortoisesA 39 year old Sri Lankan has been arrested this morning by the Sri Lankan Custom Officers at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Air Port when he trying to smuggle 41 live tortoises to Thailand .

The suspect who is a resident in Grandpass,Colombo has been arrested by Sri Lanka Customs biodiversity,cultural and national heritage protection unit this morning around 1.20 a.m at the Departure Lounge when the suspect has attempted to board TG308 Flight to Bangkok,Thailand .

The 41 Tortoises concealed in suspect's luggage have been handed over to the Wild Life Department and the suspect has  fined  of Rs.200,000 according to Custom Officers.

UNAIDS Office- Sri Lanka To Launch A Special Programme On Referring Three Major Risk Groups Which Spreading HIV/AIDS In Sri Lanka For HIV Screening Blood Test

The United Nations AIDS Programme(UNAIDS) Office in Sri Lanka has decided to launch a special programme on referring three major risk groups identified as spreading HIV/AIDS in Sri Lanka to blood screening test on HIV/AIDS after this January according to the Country Manager of UNAIDS in Sri Lanka Dr.Dayanath Ranathunge.

Under this programme the three major risk groups Sex Workers,Male Homosexuals and Drug Users Injecting Drugs will be referring for HIV/AIDS Blood Test through a rehabilitated persons  belonging to the  three groups to identify their HIV Status according to Dr.Ranathunge.

Through this the UNIADS is expecting to diagnose the undiagnosed HIV Positives in the local society as a part of their target  to eliminate HIV/AIDS from Sri Lanka in the year 2030.
