Sri Lanka not Importing Killer Paracetamol From Bangladesh

The Brand of Paracetamol which lead to the Deaths of 24 Children in Bangladesh is not imported to Sri Lanka according to the Director of the National Drug Authority Dr.Hemantha Beneragama."We are not importing any kind of Drugs from Bangladesh and therefor there's no need to affraid of he stressed.

Bangladeshi Health Authorities sealed the Pharmaceutical Company which distribute the Paracetamol Product soon after the deaths were reported.

Former LTTE Loyals Remanded

Former LTTE Media Spokesman Daya Master and Translator George Master who were surrendered to Sri Lankan Forces on last April were remanded today after producing them to the courts.Investigationes on these two are continueing according to the CID.

Group Of Army Deserters To Be Released Under Special Amnesty

Around 1815 Army Deserters who are convicted by Military Tribunal are due to be released from Prisons next Monday under Special Amnesty granted by President Mahinda Rajapaksha.There are 50 Officers among these Deserters.

First Locally Contacted Sri Lankan Swine Flu Case Detected

The First Sri Lankan Swine Flu Patient contacted the Disease locally was found yesterday signaling that the disease may spread intrernally according to the Epidemiologists.Out of Fourty Eight Swine Flu Patients that were reported up to now from here Fourty Seven are Sri Lankans who returned from Abroad.The local patient who is a Twenty Six year old youth was contacted the disease through one of his relatives who returned to Sri Lanka recently.The patient is currently receiving treatment at the IDH Fever Hospital.

Four New Cases of Swine Flu or H1N1 were identified yesterday and Two of them were Sri Lankans returned to the Country from Indonesia,One is from Maldives and other one from Dubai.

Cuban Epidemiologists Extended Their Stay In Sri Lanka

Two Cuban Epidemiologists who arrived Sri Lanka last morning for a One Weak inspection Tour have now decided to stay here Three Months to help Health Ministry to overcome the lapses occurred in the National Dengue Control Programme.The two Epidemiologists Dr.Arminas Martinez and Dr.Yellina met Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva to day and hold discussions on activities of the National Dengue Control Programme and the Technical Matters related to using of Cuban made BTI Bacteria here.

The two Epidemiologists brought the Samples of the Bacteria to the island which helped Cuba to curb the Dengue Menace.They are schedule to visit the Dengue Alert Areas in the Island.

Galle Minicipal Council Opposition Leader Shot Dead

The Opposition Leader of the Galle Municipal Council Dushantha Rathnayaka was shot dead by an unidentified gunmen in Galle this morning.Assassin came from a Motor Bike.

Police launched a Search Operation to arrest the Assassin.

IMF Provisonally Agreed To Grant Rs.2.5 Billion Loan For Sri Lanka

International Monetary Fund (IMF) says today it has provisionally agreed to a US 2.5 Billion loan for Sri Lanka and pending final approval for it on this Friday.

As the news of IMF loan broke out, Colombo Stock Exchange(CSE) has been recorded it's highest turnover for the Month over Rs 1 Billion as Investors buy Blue Chip Shares.At the end of the day Stocks were up by 2.5 Percent.In the first 30 minutes of to days Share Market Rs.290 million worth turnover was reported.
