Five Vehicles Were Damaged After Colliding With A Bus Ran Without A Driver

Five vehicles including four Motorcycles and a Car had
damaged after colliding with a  Vavuniya-Colombo Luxary Bus traveled without the driver in Vavuniya last night (24).

The driver of the Bus had stopped the Bus on a roadside after reaching Vavuniya from Colombo without turn off the engine to take money from a Atm mechine.

While driver was at the ATM Mechine the Bus started running and it collided with five vehicles on the way it has been reported.Howver a Three wheeler driver had witnessed that there's no driver in the Bus and entered in to the bus and stopped it.

Vavuniya police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Two School Boys Have Drowned In A River While Attempting To Take Selfies

Two school boys have drowned in Kalliadi Oya (River)

at Pudukudirippu area in Mulathivu while attempting to take selfies from a Mobile phone during the bath in middle of the Oya last evening (24).

The two deceased boys had went to Kalliadi Oya to bath with seven other friends and the two of them went to middle of the Oya to take selfies and drowned in the Oya due to a pit dug to take sand it has been revealed.

The two deceased had been identified as 17 year old residents of shivanagar in Pudukudiirippu area.

The bodies of the deceased had sent to Mulathivu Hospital for the post mortem.

Russia Has Decided To Lift The Ban Imposed On Sri Lankan Tea

Russia has decided to lift the temporary ban imposed
on Sri Lankan Tea with effect from 30th of December after discussing with the Sri Lankan Technical Expert team went to Russia to settle the issue.

Russia has decided to impose temporary ban over Sri Lankan Tea on 15th of December after detecting an insect in a stock of Sri Lankan Tea sent there.

However Sri Lankan authorities have stated that the insect had entered to the Tea stock in another location.

Russian authorities have agreed to lift the Tea ban after discussing with the Sri Lankan expert team including members of Sri Lanka Tea Board Sri Lankan government has announced.

Ten Persons Were Arrested While On The Way To Worship "Sripada" With Stock Of Cannabis And Cigarettes

Police Officers attached to Anti Fraud Unit of the
Hatton Police have atrested 10 persons who were on the way to worship historical "Sri Pada" by carrying a stock of Cannabis and Cigarettes illegally at Diyagala area on last Saturday (23).

Police have taken in to custody around 11,000 mili grammes of Cannabis and two Cigarette packs contains Cigarettes in possession of the suspects and they were sniffed and detected by a specially trained dog belonging to the Police.

The suspects are due to produce before the Hatton Magistrate Court.

The narcotic believed to be brought from India by a boat according to the Police.

The suspects who are of the ages 45,40 and 47 years and residents of Point Of Pedro are involved in the narcotic trade from some time it has been revealed.

A Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed After The Motorcycle Caught Fire While Riding

A 25 year old youth was burnt to death after the

Motorcycle he was riding in suddenly caught fire and it spreads towards him at Araly,Kottekadu area in Jaffna last evening (24).

The youth was killed due to the severe burn injuries sustained as a result of the fire according to the Police.

Balangoda area have been hospitalized due to  electrocution .

A Person Was Killed After A Sand Mount Collapsed On Him

A person was killed due to a sand mount collapsed on
him while inside the foundation pit cut to build a  wall  of his house in Pallegama area,Nawalapitiya this morning (24).

Soon after the accident Police have arrived the scene and with a help of a Bako mechine taken the drowned person out of the pit it has been reported.However he had succumbed to his injuries  soon after  admitted to the Nawalapitiya Hospital.

The deceased had been identified as Gamini Fonseka a resident of Pallegama area.He had faced the incident while involved in measuring activities of the foundation pit and two others with him at that time have been escaped unharmed.

Six board Of Directors of the Sri Lankan Airlines have
resigned from their posts with immediatte effect according to reports.

A German Female Has Drowned In Tangalle Seas

A 59 year old German female has drowned and died
while bathing in seas of Marakolliya in Tangalle.

While bathing she had drifted away due to strong sea currents and life saving teams had rescued her and admitted to the Tangalle Hospital in critical condition.

Later she had pronounced as dead.

A Wild Elephant Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A Wild Elephant was killed at Kolakanawadiya area in

Polonnaruwa after colliding with a Train running from Batticaloa to Colombo in the wee hours of this morning (24).

The Elephant who was commonly seen in Kolakana wadiya area and around 30-35 years of age was critically injured after colliding with the Train and later succumbed to his injuries due to the wounds received according to Wild Life Department.

Owner And Driver Of The Bus Which Toppled Over In to A Canal Were Remanded

The owner of the private bus which toppled over in to
a canal in pathulpana area,Ratnapura by killing two persons and injuring fourty four others early this morning (23) ,and the driver of the Bus were remanded until 08th of January over the incident by Ratnapura Additional Magistrate.

The two suspects were remanded after they have been produced before the Ratnapura ditional Magistrate by the Police.Police have produced the driver of the Bus who was also injured due to the accident,while receiving treatment at the Hospital.

The driver has not obtained a driving licence it has been revealed.

A Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 43 year old person was killed and another person
was injured and hospitalized after a Wild Elephant had attacked them at Morawewa in Horowpathana area last night (22).

The injured person has been admitted to the Anuradhapura General Hospital for treatment.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Morawewa area.

Meanwhile residents of the area were staged a protest campaign this noon by blocking the Kapugollawa road in Morawewa area as another life lost due to the Human-Elephant conflict.

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To Motorcycle-Cab Collision

A Motorcyclist was killed after the Motorcycle he was
riding colliding with a Cab at Dambagalla-Mariarawa road in Elpitiya today (23).

The critically injured Motorcyclist was admitted to the Dambagalla Hospital and had succumbed to his injuries after transferred to Sirigala Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased was a resident of Dambagalla area.Police have arrested the Cab driver regarding the accident.

Police Protection Has Been Provided To Horowpathana Elephant Kraal After A Tusker Fled Away

Special Police Task Force has been provided security to
the Elephant Kraal in Horowpathana area where the uncontrollable ferocious Elephants are kept in after an Elephant in the Kraal known as "Galgamuwe Thani Dalaya"(One Tusker)fled away from it on Thursday (21).

The One Tusker had fled away from the Elephant Kraal by breaking the security fence around it according to the reports.He had been fled away three times earlier as well and damaged properties .

The Tusker has been reported as in another reserve in Horowpathana area according to the Wild Life Department. The Department has launched a mission to find out the One Tusker.

Two Passangers Were Killed And Fourty Four Were Injured Due To A Road Accident

Two passangers  including a female were killed and

fourty four passangers were injured and hospitalized  after the  private bus they were travelling in from Urubokke to Colombo veering off the road and toppled over in to the Dodangaha Canal at pathulpana area on Ratnapura-Embilipitiya road in the wee hours of this morning (23).

The injured were admitted to the Ratnapura (41)and Kahawatte (03)Hospitals for treatment.

The accident was occurred around 2.10 a.m and there were sixty passangers in the bus at the time of the accident  according to the Police headquarters.
