Two Persons Drowned While Swimming In The Sea Coast Of Uppuveli

Image result for drownedTwo persons were drowned while swimming in the sea coast of Uppuveli(Eastern Province) last night(29) it has been reported.

The drowned persons have been identified as residents of Selvanayagam in Trincomalee.

Police along with the Navy Personal had launched a joint search operation in search of the two missing persons.

Three Were Killed And Ten Injured Due To A Van-Bus Collision

Three Children of the ages two,four and eight  were killed and Ten Passengers  injured and Hospitalized due to a Van-Bus Collision occurred at  seidamarudu-Kalmunai in Ampara area(Eastern Province) early this morning(30).

The injured  had been admitted to the Kalmuani Hospital for treatment.The deceased were identified as residents of Palamunai area.

The accident has occurred when  a Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) Bus collided with a Van arrived in opposite direction of the road.

A Person Died After Colliding With A Train

The identity of the deceased not revealed yet and his body had sent to Nagoda Hospital according to the North Kalutara Police.

A Three Wheeler Driver Was Killed Due To An Accident In Piliyandala

A three wheeler driver was killed and four others
were critically  injured and hospitalized following the three wheeler they were in veered off the road and crashed into a wall on Piliyandala-batakaththara road (Western Province) early hours of this morning (29).

The deceased has been identified as a 29 year old youth reside in Moratuwa.


Vanni And Batticaloa Districts Badly Affected Due To Heavy Showers

Wanni and Batticaloa districts are being  badly
affected due to the heavy showers prevailing in those districts  at present it has been reported.

Accordingly several roads including few places in vavuniya-mannar main road in Vavuniya (Northern Province) and several roads in Batticaloa (Eastern Province) including kiran-thoppila and kiran-pulipayindakal main roads have been submerged it has been reported.

Due to this situation transport in these areas badly affected sources have revealed.

Around 12,195 persons in Batticaloa district have been affected by this morning due to  the heavy showers the authorities have stated.


Maximum Retail Prices Fixed For Five Essential Food Items

The consumer affairs authority has announced
maximum retail prices for five essential food items in the market.

Accordingly the maximum retail price of a Kilo Gramme of White Suger will be Rs.93, A kilo gramme of  imported dried sprats (Thailand) Rs.490,Imported dried sprats(Dubai) Rs.405,A kilo gramme of imported Potatoes  Rs.115 ,A kilo gramme of green gramme Rs.205 and a kilo gramme of mysore dhal Rs.159 with effect from last friday (27).

A Nine Year Old Child Died And His Father Went Missing Due To A Boat Accident

A nine year old child died and his father went missing due to a
fishing boat they were in met with an accident off the coast of Southbar, Mannar(Northern Province).

The child and his father went to sea last night (28) and afterwards the boat met with an accident according to sources.

As per information received on the accident through another boat,Naval officers have launched a search operation to search for the missing father .


A Police Constable Remanded Over Sexually Abusing A Russian Female

One out of the two Police constables attached to the Ministerial
 Security Division who were arrested over sexually abusing a Russian Female in Mount Lavinia Beach yesterday(28) was remanded until 09th of February and other constable was released on a personal bail of Rs.200,000 by the Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate .

The two suspects were produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate today (29).

The two constables were arrested after the Russian Female victim had complained to the life saving officers who were in duty last evening at the Mount Lavinia Beach that the suspects had sexually abused her while bathing.





Bogala Graphite Mine Temporarily Closed After The Death Of It's Employee

Bogala graphite mine has been temporarily closed today(29)
after a Superviser attached  to the mine died as a result of falling a part of graphite on his head last afternoon(28).

Soon after the accident the critically injured Superviser had been admitted to the Karawanella Hospital for treatment .However he was succumbed to his injuries this morning .

The deceased was a fourty two year old resident of pahalagama in Kegalle.

Mannar Police (Northern Province) with 3 kilo grammes and 650 grammes of kerala cannabis in their possession .

The suspected Police Constable was arrested during a raid carried out in Mihinthale-Rambawa junction .

Police have arrested two Police Constables attached to
the Ministerial Security Division over sexually abusing a Russian Female while bathing at Mount Lavinia sea coast(Colombo) yesterday (28) afternoon.

The two Police Constables were arrested after the Russian Female informed the incident to the life saving officers in the beach.During the arrest the two suspects attempting to escape from the scene it has been reported.

The suspects who are in the ages of 27 and 47 and residents of Mitihana and Kanthale are due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court this evening.

Seven Persons Arrested With A Stock Of Valuable Timber Logs

Special Police Task Force personal had arrested seven
persons who had been involved in a large scale timber cutting racket with a stock of valuable timber logs and three timber cutting machines in their possession at Pangirihena area in Galle (Southern Province).

Police Task Force Personal had taken into custody a stock of timber logs in possession of the suspects including teak,jack,mahogani and halmilla according to reports.

Oil Leaked Into The Sea From Colombo Port Due To A Damaged Oil Supply Line

Oil leaked into the sea this noon from Colombo Port
premises due to the damage occurred to a oil supply line from Colombo Port to Kolonnawa (Colombo).

The officials of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Sri Lanka Ports Authority had   taken steps  to stop the oil leak by repairing  the damaged oil supply line this afternoon .

Public Health Inspectors Recovered 35,000 Kilo Grammes Of Rice Unfit For Human Consumption

A group of Public Health Inspectors
(PHI's)have recovered 35,000 kilo grammes of Rice unfit for human consumption during a raid carried out in a warehouse at Pubbogama,Kekirawa(North Central Province ) area last night (27).

The PHI's had arrested six persons in the ware house who were responsible for preparing the stock of Rice to release to the local market along with the security guard of the ware house during the raid.

One person at the warehouse had escaped from the scene during the raid it has been revealed.


Two Unidentified Dead Bodies Recovered From Dehiwala

Dehiwala Police have recovered two unidentified
dead bodies this morning from a reservoir and a canal near Badowita Hotel in Dehiwala(Colombo).

The two dead bodies were recovered during a search operation carried out after receiving information to the police emergency line this morning it has been revealed.

Dehiwala Police are conducting an investigation on the incident .

Two Russian Nationals Arrested For Illegally Fishing In Balapitiya

Coast Guard officers have arrested two Russian
Nationals this morning (28)over Illegally fishing in Balapitiya sea(Southern Province) with two special
weapons use to kill fish in their possession .

Coast Guards have  also taken into custody the hired boat which used by the Russians for fishing .The suspects arrived at Balapitiya beech through the hired boat it has been revealed .

Sri Lanka's Largest State Owned Dental Hospital To Be Inaugurated On 31st Of January

Displaying dent.jpgSri Lanka's largest  state owned Dental Institute,the newly built ten storied National Dental Teaching Hospital in Ward Place ,Colombo built with modern technology at a cost of Rs.800 million is due to be officially inaugurated by President Maithripala Sirisena on 31st of January.

The National Dental Teaching Hospital is equipped with latest treatment/surgery  facilities snd equipment has a 240 member staff including medical specialists and nurses and providing treatment and surgery facilities for the public free of charge.

It has the capacity of treating over 1000 patients dsily according to the Ministry Of Health.

The laying of foundation stone to build another ten stories for the Dental Hospital will be also taken place on 31st of January under the patronage of President during the innauguration ceremony

An Indian Youth Was Drowned In Southern Seas

An indian youth was drowned in the seas of
Hikkaduwa (Southern Province) yesterday (27) while bathing according to reports.

The deceased was pronounced as dead on admission to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Hikkaduwa Police are investigating on the incident.

transporting 76 logs of  teak timber without a valid licence st Alawathugoda (Central Province)area.

Price Of A Lottery Ticket To Be Reduced By Rs.10

The price of a Lottery Ticket which increased to Rs.30
from Rs.20  since 01st of January 2017 will be reduced to Rs.20 again with effect from tomorrow (28) according to the National Lotteries Board.

A new stock of Lottery Tickets priced Rs.20 had been issued to Lottery Agents todzy (27 the Board has stated.

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the authorities to reduce the price of a Lottery Ticket after the Lottery Agents had launched a strike action  demanding to reduce the increased price.

Five Indian Nationals Remanded Over An Illegal Kidney Racket Have Been further Remanded

Five Indian Nationals who were arrested and
remanded over involving in an International Kidney Racket have been further remanded until 09th of February by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today (27).

Except the charge on  involving in  a Kidney Racket the suspects were charged with staying in the country without a valid visas and escape from Mirihana Detention Center it has been reported.

The five suspects pleaded not guilty for the charges against them during the court hearing.

Special Commodity Levy On Imported Rice Reduced By Rs.10

The Special commodity levy imposed on imported rice
has been reduced by Rs.10 with effect from midnight tonight (27).

Accordingly the levy will be reduced by Rs.15 to Rs.5 per kilo gramme the Ministry Of Finance has announced. 


A Plastic Item Shop In Homagama Has Destroyed Due To A Fire

A shop selling plastic items at Homagama(Colombo) had been destroyed last night (26) due to a sudden fire broke out in the shop.

The fire brigade of Panagoda Army Camp,the residents of the area and Kottawa Municipal council fire brigade doused the fire it has been reported.

No one was injured due to the fire and the  cause for the fire not yet been revealed.

Homagama Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.
