Navy Have Arrested Ten Local Fishermen Who Were Illegally Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

remanded සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලSri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested 10 local fishermen who were illegally fishing in Sri Lankan seas off  Mannar(Northern Province) by using banned fishing nets.

Accordingly Navy Personal have arrested 05 local fishermen involved in illegal fishing near Ceynor Jetty in Mandathivu and another 05 fishermen were arrested at Thalvupadu in Mannar.

The arrested Fishermen along with banned fishing nets used by them were handed over to the Fisheries Inspectors Office at Mandathivu and the assistant fisheries director's offcie  in Mannar for future course of action.

Five Imprisoned Policemen Were Further Remanded Over The Killing Of Two Jaffna University Students

The fiver Policemen who were arrested and remanded over the killing of two Jaffna University Students  had been further remanded until 13th of January by the Jaffna District Court Judge S.Sadeeshwaren.

The Jaffna District Judge had also rejected a request made regarding   granting of bail for the five suspected Policemen  .

The Judge has also directed the authorities to keep the five suspects in Anuradhapura(North Central Province) Prison and provide them the required security.

The suspected Policemen were arrested and remanded over the killing of two Jaffna University Students on 21st of October at Chunnakam,Jaffna.

Health Minister To Reduce Prices Of Essential Surgical Items

Accordingly Minister Dr.Senaratne has advised the Independant Drug Regulatory Authority to prepare a price mechanism to reduce prices of essential surgical items recommended for patients.

Under this programme prices of Artificial Cataract eye lenses due to be reduced to Rs.10,000 per lense from it's current price of Rs.25,000 as a fist step the Health Ministry has stated .

Catarct lenses are imported from India for Rs.6000 per lens and sold to patients Rs.25,000 per lens it has been revelaed.As many complaints recived from Cataract Patients regarding the higher prices of Cataract lenses ,Health Minister has decided to reduce the prices of lenses through a price mechanism Ministry has revealed.

Jeep Driver Was Killed In A Accident Occurred On Hikkaduwa-Baddegama Road

One Person Was Killed And Another Was Critically Injured Due To The Collision Of Two Lorries

A lorry driver was killed when his lorry collided with
another lorry in Kaluthara North (Western Province) today(29).

The driver of the other lorry was critically injured and admitted to the Nagoda Hospital for treatmdnt according to the police.

The deceased lorry driver has been identified as a resident of Gonapinuwala (Southern Province).

A 65 Year Old Female Was Killed While Crossing The Road

A 65 year old female was killed after colliding with a
 Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus during crossing the road through a pedestal crossing at Galle (Southern Province).

The identity of the deceased female has not yet been revealed.

Police have arrested the Bus Driver regarding the incident.

Police Have Arrested Three Persons With Three Firearms

Tangalle Divisional Crimes Investigations Unit officers
 have arrested three persons with three firearms in their possession at Thambaragaswewa in Thissamaharamaya (Southern Province) yesterday (28).

Police officers have   taken into custody two locally made firearms and one foreign made firearm in possession of the suspects.

Weerawansha has today (29)appeared before the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division(FCID) for the second consecutive day to give a statement regarding financial irregularities charged against him.

MP Weerawansha had given a statement to the FCID Yesterday (28) regarding financial irregularities occurred at Housing Ministry when he was the Minister during previous regime.

Today he had given a statement to the FCID regarding misusing of state vehicles belonging to Presidential Secretariat and providing a vehicle belonging to the State Engineering Corporation to his relatives and friends during previous regime.

A Participent Of A One Kilo Meter Race Held In Nagoda Died After Completion Of Two Rounds Of The Race

A laborer(50) attached to Nagoda Pradeshiya Sabha in
Galle district (Southern Province) who participated a 1 Kilo Meter race held at Royal Collage Sports Grounds in Nagoda has died after completion of two rounds of the race this morning(29).

The deceased who was a resident of Udugama (Southern Province )area has withdrawn from the race organized by the Nagoda Divisional Secretariat after completing two rounds by stating he was  not feeling well.

He died after admission to Nagoda Rural Hospital it has been reported.

Former Sprint Queen Susanthika Jayasinghe Has Been Airlifted To Colombo National Hospital From Diyathalawa Hospital

Jayasinghe who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Diyathalawa Base Hospital last tuesday (27) due to  a suffering from fever believed to be  Dengue ,has been airlifted to colombo National Hospital from a helicopter today according to National Hospital sources.

She is currently receiving treatment at the  Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of the National Hospital the sources have stated.

The health condition of the former Sprint Queen is not critical and further investigations are being  carried out to identify her illness according to Doctors.

A Teenager Was Killed Due To Motor Cycle-Lorry Collision

A 19 year old teenager was killed as the Motor Cycle
he was  riding collided with a lorry at Ihalagama,Gampaha(Western Province) today (29).

The critically injured teenager who was a resident of Kalagedihena  area (Gampaha) succumbed to his injuries after admission to Gampaha Hospital.

Police have arrested the Lorry Driver regarding the accident.

A person who had stolen a gold chain from a young
female at Kanthale area was killed as the  Police fired at a Three Wheeler he was in which travelled without considering police orders in Sardhapura,Trincomalee today (28).

The deceased was on the run from a Three Wheeler after steeling a gold chain from a young female it has been reported.

After the female made a compliant to the Police regarding her gold chaIn ,Two motor cycles carrying police officers had chased after the Three Wheeler according to sources.

Police have arrested the two other  persons travelling in the Three Wheeler.

A 75 Year Old Person Was Killed Due To Bicycle-Ambulance Collision At Mulathivu

A  75 year old person was killed as the Bicycle he was
riding  collided with a Sri Lanka Air Force ambulance travelling from Mulathivu to Mulliyaweli (Northern Province) at Kepapilaw in Mulathivu today (28).

Mulathivu Police have arrested the Air Force ambulance driver regarding the accident and also taken into custody the ambulance .

Sri Lanka Navy Arrested Eight Local Fishermen Over Illegal Fishing In Local Waters

Image result for local fishermenSri Lanka Navy have arrested Eight local fishermen while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters off  Silawathurai by using banned fishing nets and equipment according to the  Navy.

During the raid carried out by the Navy Officers two banned "surukku"fishing nets ,two dinghi boats  and two pairs of diving fins had been taken into custody .

The arrested  fishermen and the equipment were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Mannar for further investigations.
