Nuclear Energy Regulatory Commission To Punish Those Who Are Violating The Radiation Act

The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Commission has decided to punish those who are violating the Radiation Act with effect from 01st of January.

The commission has decided to issue a licence for those who are working at the fields related to radiation in view of building Radiation Free Sri Lanka according to the sources.

Those persons or institutions that acted by violating  Radiation Act will be punished through courts or by abolishing their licences the Commission has said.

Five Persons Have Been Killed Due To A Bus-Van Collision At Colombo-Kandy Main Road

Dozens of Passengers have been injured due to the accident and admitted to the Warakapola Hospital Police have said.

Three Females,The Van Driver and a Small Child have been killed due to this accident it has been revealed.

Next Local Government Body Election To Be Held On Mid June Next Year

The next Local Government Bodies Election is due to be held on Mid June next year under the new mixed electoral system according to the Minister of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Elections will be held for 335 local government  bodies  including 271 Pradeshiya Sabha's,41 Urban Councils,and 23 Municipal Councils the Minister has said during the weekly Cabinet Briefing held yesterday(29).

The official term of the local government bodies is due to  end on next March and it has been extended until 15th of May by  government due to the prevailing political situation of the country.

Employees Of Water Board have Called Off Their Token Strike



The Employees Of the National Water Supplies And Drainage Board have called off their Token Strike today(29) after the authorities have agreed to pay  full annual bonus for  the employees.

The token strike launched by the Water Board Employees  yesterday (28)against the Decision taken by Board Management to slash employees  annual bonus has been called off according to Joint Trade Union Alliance Of National Water Supplies And Drainage Board.

Geological Survey And Mines Bureau Has Launched An Inquiry On A Minor Tremor In Mada Dumbara

  • The Geological Survey And Mines Bureau has launched an inquiry regarding the Minor Earth Tremor occurred last night in and around Mada Dumbara Area in Kandy.
           The vibrations of the tremor which occurred around 10.30 p.m last night have been recorded in at the Earthquake Monitoring Stations in Pallekele,Mahakandarawa and Hakmana.

  

Maximum Number Of Students For Grade One Class To Be Increased To 40 From 35-Education Ministry

The maximum number of student admissions for Grade One Class of a School is

A circular regarding the increased number of student admissions for Grade One Class will be issued to the principles ,District Education Officers and Educational Secretaries within next few days the Ministry has said.

However the maximum number of student admissions for Grade One Class will be systematically reduced within next few years and there will be again 35 students per Grade One Class by the year 2021.

A tense situation has occurred after a female was killed yesterday(28) due to a road accident in Wedamulle,Kotmale (Central Hills),when a lorry run over the female  .This accident has been  occurred when the deceased female was crossing the road.

Soon after the accident has occurred the angry residents of the area surrounded the Lorry which run over female and attacked both the vehicle and  driver with sticks and bricks,

The Police have arrested the Lorry Driver over the accident.

Students Attached To Two Universities Have Conducted A Protest Campaign Against Attack Over Meethotamulle Residents
