Service Of Another 51 CEB Employees Suspended

 The Ceylon Electricity  Board management has suspended the services of 51 Employees over attending the protest campaign held by the Joint Trade Union Alliance of the Board against the new Electricity Act.


Accordingly the service of 66 Ceylon Electricity Board Employees who attended the  protest had been  suspended  by the CEB Management upto now it has been revealed. The servic suspension had been implemented due to attending the protest  at a time all leave of CEB Employees were being cancelled the Boatd has announced.


Navy Arrested 11 Persons With 66 Kg Of Heroin In Possession

 The  Sri Lanka Navy  had arrested  11 persons  in possession of 66 Kilo Grammes of Heroin in Southern Sea waters at dondara according to the Navy sources.


The Navy had also taken into custody  two fishing trawlers the suspects had used to transport the haul of Heroin it has been reported.Police Narcotics Bureau had assisted Navy to carryout the operation

Supreme Court Qashed The Presidential Pardon Granted To Ex MP Duminda Silva

 The Supreme Court  had qashed the Special Presidential Pardon granted   to former Parliamentarian Duminda Silva by ex president Gotabaya Rajapakshe on Wednesday(17).


The Court directed  the  Commissioner of Prisons to implement the Conviction and Sentence against  former  Parliamentarian Silva who had recieved the life time imprisonment  in 2016 over the killing of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandre.Ex President Gotabaya Rajapakshr had granted special presidential Pardon to Duminda Silva on June 2021.

Seventy Two Health Trade Unions To Strike From.01st Of February

 Around 72 Health Unions have decided  to launch an Islandwide Strike  from 01st of February demanding  to Pay the  Rs.35,000  Dat  allowance given to the doctors .The decision was reached  during  the meeting of the Health Trade Union Confederation held

The 72 Health trade unions  representing  Professions Supplementary  To Medicine (PSM)  and Para Medical Services had launched a 24 hour long strike on last Tuesday (16) cripling the patient care services of the state owned hospitals .

A Lorry Driver Was Killed Due To A Misfired Gun Shot Of A Police Officer

 A driver of a Lorry was killed due to misfired gunshot of a Police officer at Narammala   area yesterday (18) according to the Police.The incident occurred whilst   chasing  after the Lorry  which was driven by the driver without considering police orders to stop the vehicle it has been revealed.


Whilst chasing after the vehicle a gun carried by one of the Police officers misfired when pointed towards the driver it has been reported.The Lorry drivet was killed due to the incident and as a result  angry residents of the area surrounded   the Narammala Police ,breaking the gates  and damaged the  Properties of the Police station   in a protest against the killing.

A tense situation  was occurred due to the incident and A special Police Team was sent to the Narammala Police to control the angry crowd  according to the Police Department.
