Five Spill Gates Of Polgolla Reservoir Opened

Five spill gates belongs to the Polgolla Reservoir had opened yesterday(14) due to the heavy showers experiencing in the area  according to the authorities .


Due to the opening of these spill gates people using Mahaweli River between Polgolla and Victoria reservoirs are being advised to be vigilant over a flood situation 




 

Grade Five Scholorship Examination Commenced This Morning

The Grade five Scholorship examination had commenced this morning (15) in 2888 centers located in Schools islandwide.


According to the Department of Examination a total of 337,956 candidates is sitting for this year's examination.

An Eye Disease Is Spreading Among Children

An Eye Disase is currently speading in the island especially among children according to the  Eye Surgeons of Colombo National Eye Hospital . Accordingly an Eye disease with the symptoms  Redness in the eyes,Swelling of the eyelids and tearing is currently spreadig in many parts of the country and the Eye surgeons are requesting general public to follow safety measures to protect themselves from the disease.


Public is being advised to ensure cleanliness of their hands before making contact with eyes an avoid touching their eyes these days as preventive meassures .


IGP Wikramaratne Has Been Given A Service Extension

 The Inspector General Of Police (IGP)  C,D Wikramaratne has been given a three week extension with effect with effect from yesterday (13) according to the Government .


IGP is scheduled to be retired from the post on 23rd of March 2023 but the President extended his service in Many occassions IGP C .D Wikramaratne had assumed his duties as the35th IGP in Sri Lanka on 27 th of  November  2020.

A Passanger Ferry Service Between SrinLanka And India Inaugurated

 A passanger  ferry Service between Sri Lanka and India began today(14)  according to the Ministry Of Ports,Shipping and Aviation .


The ferry  which will be operated from nagapattinam  in Tamil Nadu to  Kankasanthurai  in Sri lanka amd vice versa will carry  100 passangers at a time and a passanger need to pay Rs.26,750 as the  trip fee  officials had stated.A passanger can carry a lugage weighing up to 50kg during a trip it has been revealed.
