Small Rivers In Northern Province Are Drying Up Due To A Drought

 Around 2066 small rivers located in Northern Province are drying up due to the drought prevailing in the province these days caused due to high temperatures  according to the authorities 


Due to this situation more than 30,000 families in the province are facing severe difficulties  on  meet their daily requirements  and to find watet for theit cultivations .

Three Fishermen Died Due To Lightning

 Three fishermen had died Last evening (11) due to the lightning struck whilst fishing in Thammannawa Wewa(River)in Mihintale area (North Western province ) according to the Mihintale police.


The deceased who were residents of Kahatagasdigiliya ,ganguruwa and ellewewa areas were of the ages 42,44 and 46 years it had been revealed .Their bodies are lying at Thammannawa Hospital.

Two Persons Had Died Due To Fever In Kurunagala

 Two persons out of the Eleven persons who  were infected with  fever believed to be Lepotospirosis (Rat fever) and admitted to the  Kurunagala Teaching Hospital had died yesterday(11) whilst receiving Intensive Care Treatment according to the hospital  authorities.


The deceased along with Nine other persons were admitted to the Hiripitiya district hospital after catching fever when fishing at Doradhaththa Wewa(River) in Kirindiwelgala,Kurunagala it has been reported.As their condition was  getting worst they were transferred to Kurunagala Hospital for further  treatment it has been reported.

Three Persons Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Vehicle Collision

Three persons including two Russians had been  injured and hospitalized after the Three wheeler  they were travelling in colliding with Three three wheelers and four Motorcycles near the Katukurunda fuel station today(09).


The injured were admitted to the Nagoda hospital for treatment and their condition  is not serious according to the reports.

A Manager Of A Chemical Factory Was Killed Due To A Fire-Over 100 Students Also Hospitalized

 A Manager attached to a Chemical  factory in Kandana area (Western province) was killed due to a fire occurred  in the factory yesterday (08) and more than 100 school children attached to two schools located near the factory had been hospitalized  due to inhailing toxic


leaked from the factory as a result of the fire. 

The group of students were admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital  with  Breathing diffuculties and stomachache due to the  toxic gas  inhalation  according to the Authorities .The condition of the students is not critical according to the hospital authorities.

Fire fighters had doused the fire occurred in the factory completely .
