Three Teachers Arrested Over Assaulting A Student

 Three teachers were arrested by the Police yesterday (21) over allegedly assaulting a 19 year old student studying in a school in  Maha Oya area (Sabaragamuwa Province) .Your Legal Rights If Arrested | Maryland State Bar Association – MSBA

Accordingly Maha Oya Police had arrested a student of the ages 34,37 and 43 years,following an investigation launched into a complaint lodged at the Maha Oya Police by the mother of the  victimized student .The assaulted student had been admitted to the Maha Oya Base hospital for the treatment ,

The three teachers arrested over the incident are due to be produced before the Dehiattakandiya Magistrate Court ,

Ramzan Falls Today(22)

 The Muslim community in Sri lanka is celebrating Ramazan (Eid -Ul-Fitr)  today (22) after seeing the full moon according to the Grand Mosque in Colombo.


The Muslim communuty in Sri lanka had observed fasting for a period of one month prior to the festival.

Another Stock Of Imported Eggs Arrived

 A ship carrying one million eggs imported from India had arrived in Colombo Harbour yesterday (20) according to the government.


This stock of imported Eggs is scheduled to be issued to the large scale Bakery owners and Hotels after being tested by the officials  of  Animal Production and Health Department it has been revealed.With this stock the government had imported around five million eggs to Sri lanka so far .

Meanwhile Government had yesterday issued a special Gazette notification on the fixed price of eggs .

Negambo Court Refused To Issue A Court Order Against A Prorest March

 A request made by  the Negambo Police from the  court  to issue a court order  preventing a protest march organized by National Peoples league scheduled to be held today(21) at Negambo had been  rejected by the court yesterday (20).


Negambo Acting Magistrate Indika silva had rejected to issue a court order to prevent the protest.

Higher Electricity Demand Has Been Reported Yesterday (19)

 The highest electricity demand reported in.tbe country during recent times had been reported yesterday (19) according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare.


Accordingly an Electricty demnd of 49.53 Giga Watt hours had been reported yesterday (19) and the demand is expected to increase further in.coming days the Minister has stated.

Due to the hot weather prevailing in the country at present the electricity demand is being increased these days he had stressed.
