 Peradeniya Police have fired Tear gas and water canons to disperse a Protest March organized by the University students attached to the Students Union of University Of Peradeniya at Peradeniy area few  hours ago according to reports ,

Due to the Protest march launched by the Students attached to the Students Union of Peradeniya University the Colombo -Peradeniya main road from Peradeniya University had been blocked it has been revealed .The group of University students had launched the Protest march demanding to release all the university students  including the imprisoned convener of the Inter University Students Federation

A Shortage Of Cards To Print National Identity Cards

 Due to the shortage of Cards use  to print National Identity  Cards the Department For Registrations Of Persons has decided to issue National Identity Cards print  in piece of paper as a temporary measure .

This new National Identity card printed in a paper will be valid when sitting for local and International tests and all bank activities the Department has stated .Until next August  Cards will not be available to print National Identity Card officials have stated .

A Person Was Injured Due To A Gun Shootinf Incident

 A person was injured and hospitalized due to a gun shooting incident at 06th lane in Kotahena area (Colombo_) this evening (18);.The  injured person was admitted to the  Colombo National Hospital for treatment 

Two persons came from a Motorcycle shot and injured the person it has been reported ,The reason behind the incident has not yet been revealed .

Acceptence Of Nominations For Forthcoming LG Election Commenced

 Acceptence of  nominations for the  forthcoming  Local Government (LG)Elections had commenced   from 8.30 a.m today (18) and will continue until 12 noon on 21st of January according to the National Elections Commission

According to the commission acceptence of Deposits from the Political parties contesting the Local government election which began on 04th of January will be concluded on 12 ,noon ,21stof January .The date scheduled for the election will be announced on 21 st of January the Elections commissioner Saman Sri Ratnayake has stated.
