A Proposal To Increase The Electcricity Bill To Be Submitted To Cabinet Tomorrow(02)

 The Cabinet Proposal to increase the Electricity Bill is scheduled to be submitted to the Cabinet tomorrow(02 ) according to the Government .Cabinet Decisions taken at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on  30.03.2020 - Sri Lanka News - BusinessNews.lk

According to the Cabinet Proposal the Rs.8 rate charge for the usage of first 30 units of Electricity  recommended to increase to Rs.30.Also the Proposal recommends to increase the rate of Rs.10 charge per unit for the usage of 31-60 Electricity units to Rs.37 per a unit ,and the Rs.16 rate charge for the usage of Electricity units  from 61-90 units  to Rs.42 per unit .

30,000 Government Employees Retired Yesterday (31`)

 Around 30,000 Government employees who are of the age of 60 years had  retired yesterday ( 31)  accordance to the Government sources .These employees had retired accordance to the retirement age fixed by the government recently .Emblem of Sri Lanka - Wikipedia

The previous government had extended the retirement age of Government employees to 65 years and it has been implemented since 01st of January 2022 .However government had decided to reduce the retirement age to 60 again late last year (2022) due to the current economic crisis.

However due to the service requirement  secretaries of the President and the Prime Minister had  recommended to keep 300 employees attached to the Railways department in service further .The new recruitment's to fill the vacancies created as a result of  those who had retired ,    will be made soon the Ministry of Indigenous affairs had announced.

Police Arrested A Youth Over Abducting A Pregnant Girl

 The Police have arrested a 24 year old youth  who had abducted a 15 year old pregnant girl whilst receiving treatment at Anuradapura General Hospital.

The Abducted girl was molested 


by the abductor earlier and she was abducted by the rapist whilst  she was receiving treatment at hospital  under the custody of Child probation department  officers.

Police had arrested the suspect along  with the pregnant girl  whilst traveling  in a Three wheeler at Dambulla-Kekirawa road.


Peoples Bank Increased The Interest Rates Of Loans

 The Peoples Bank had increased the Interest rate of the loans issued to the Customers up to 15 perecent the Bank has announced.This decision has been taken by  considering the   rising inrerest rates in the local market the Bank has stated .


The National Savings Bank has also increased the interest rates of the loans to 15 percent recently.

Police Arrested Three Persons Over Setting Fire To A Record Room In Court

 Akkaraipattu Police (Northern Province)had arrested three youth over setting  fire to the record room of the Akkaraipattu Magistrate Court on 21 st of December .


A haul of Heroin weighing 09 grammes and 200 mili grammes ,A,Knife and the cloths they worn at the time of the incident  had been taken into custody in possesion of the suspects.

The three youth of the agea 17,19  and 24 are residents of Kovilai and  Akkarapattu areas and Police have obtained a  detention order from the court to question the suspects until 04th of January .
