A 26 year old youth has been severely injured and hospitalized due to a gun shooting incident occurred at Yakkatuwa area in Elpitiya town (Southern Province ) today (23).The critically injured youth had been transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after been admitted to the Elpitiya Base Hospital for treatment ,

The Ministry of Power and Energy has planned to send the monthly Electricity Bill through short messages (SMS) to the Mobile phone of Electricity consumers with effect from next January according to Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare .
The Electricity bills will be SMS instead of distributing a printed bill due to the shortage of paper in the market Minister has stated .
At the momenr the Computer system of the Electricity Board is updating to implement this SMS Bill system he has stressedcr
The Public Utilities Commission had given approval to the Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB)to defunction one out of the three electric generators at Lakwijaya Coal Power plant in Norochchoali due to the shortage of Coal in the country .
Accordingly The generator which added nearly 270 Mega Watts of Power to the National Grid had been defunctioned since last night the Electricity Board has announced.The 270 Mega watts of Power lost to the National Grid due to the defunction of Coal power plant can be taken from Kerawalapitiya Coal power plant with the cost of Rs.228 million daily ,However it is too costly to the Board CEB has stated.
Three Injured Dolphines had been drifted to the Sea coastal area at backyard of the Tourist hotel at Uyankale area in Panadura town(Colombo District) last evening (22).
These Dolphines had severe injuries and residents of the area had sent them back to the sea according to the Panadura south police .
Panadura South Police are being observed the area after a complaint was lodged by the residents over the incident .
