president Ranil Wikramasinghe Had Left The Country To Attend Queen"s Funeral

 Ptesident Ranil Wikramasinghe had left the Country in wee hours of this morning to attend the Royal funeral of Queen Elizabeth the second who died on 08th of September at the age of 96.



A Group headed by President Wikramasinghe  had left to England from an Emirates flight which travels to London via Dubai according to the Sources .This is the first official visit in abroad of president after assuming his office .He is due to return to the country on next Tuesday (20).


Navy Arrested 26 Illegal Migrants In Northern Seas

 Sri Lanka Navy had arrested 26 locals who had tried to migrate to another country illegally from  a Dingy and Multi trawler boat yesterday (16) at the Northern sea  area in Veththalkerni.



Navy had handed over the 26 persons arrested  imcluding 12 males and 05 children along with the two  Dingy and Multi trawler boats which they have used to travel to the Maradankerni police for a legal action according to the Navy .

All Schools Will Receive A Special Holiday On Next Monday (19)

 All the government approved Schools and Private schools in the island will receive the special government holiday declared for next Monday (19) behalf of the Royal Funeral of the Queen Elizabeth the second  scheduled to be held  on that day.




Government has declared next Monday as a national day of mourning and a special government holiday behalf of the queen's death and the funeral .

The Second Tallest Building In South Asia Lotus Tower Had Been Opened Yesterday (15)

 The second tallest  building in South Asia, Lotus tower, has been opened to the public with effect from yesterday (15).


However the Chinese funded tower once known as a white elephant built under the Rajapakshe regime will be opened in three phases according to the Lotus Tower Private Limited .Accordingly the observation tower has been opened for the public since yesterday and the second phase opening will take place in two months time . The third phase opening is scheduled to take place next March according to the Lotus Tower private limited .

The 350 meter high Lotus  tower had been built in a space of 30,600 square meters \and evolving café and observatory tower are few of the major attractions of this tower. The tower consists  of 13 floors (06 floors in base and 07 in the flower section )and the Construction is estimated to have cost USD 113 million. Although the administration of the Tower is issuing tickets priced Rs.500 and Rs.2000 for the public who are  coming to view the tower, many crowds have been reported as visiting the place since yesterday .

Three Fuel Ships Anchored In Colombo Since Last Month Due To Dollar Shortage

Three ships carrying Diesel and Crude Oil are being anchored in Sri Lankan seas since last month as a result of the delaying of payments for the ships  due to the current dollar shortage  in the country according to the Ministry Of Power and Energy .
