President To End State Of Emergency Regulations On 18th Of August

The State of Emergency regulations currently in force in the Country will not  be extended after 18 th of August the date the regulations are scheduled to expire according to the President Ranil Wikramasinghe .


As the situation which caused the implementation of State of Emergency had returned to normalcy,I will not extend it and will let it  lapse on 18th of August  "President Wickramasinghe has stated during his speech at the 35th Annual Conference of the Organization Of Professional Association (OPA) held in Colombo today  (16).

President Wikramasinghe had imposed the State Of Emergency regulations last month due to the situation that occurred as a result of the Galle face protest.

A Diaspora office is also scheduled to be opened  in Colombo to get the support of the International Diaspora community to engage in the development work of  the country he has stressed,Sri Lanka's Government had lifted the ban imposed on six International Tamil organizations a few days ago,

Another Gas Ship Arrived

 Another ship carrying 3000 Metric tonnes of Gas had arrived at Hamabnathota Port today (16) according to the Litro Gas Company.


After unloading the stock of Gas from the ship distribution process of Gas cylinders will begin Company has stated, As there is enough stock of Gas available in the country no more Gas shortage will occur in future Litro Gas Company sources have stated .

All Schools To Resume Five Days Per Week From Tomorrow (15)

 Although Public Transport system in the country  has not been return to normalcy due to the fuel crisis ,Ministry of Education has decided to conduct All Government and Private Hospitals five days per week from tomorrow (15).


Accordingly all schools which were functioned three days per week during recent weeks will resume as usual from tomorrow the Ministry has stated .

Meanwhile according to the Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association 90-95 percent of all Private buses will run from tomorrow for the benefit of School children and it will accelerate afterwards ,The state owned Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) Buses will also run School buses tomorrow for the benefit of School Children CTB has stated .

However School Vans Union had stated School vans cannot run in full capacity due to the fuel shortage. 

Ministry Of Defense Had Lifted The Ban Imposed On Six International Organizations

The Ministry Of Defense has lifted the ban imposed on Six International  Tamil organizations representing Tamil Diaspora regarding carrying out their functions in Sri Lanka .


Accordingly, the ban was imposed on the Australian Tamil Congress ,Global  Tamil Forum. The International Tamil Coordination Committee.Tamil Eelam Peoples Congress ,Canadian Tamil Congress and British Tamil Congress had been lifted .

Activities of these Tamil Organizations were banned in Sri Lanka due to their funding of  the terrorist Organization  LTTE which fought for a separate state in the country for more then two decades ,The ban imposed on these organizations  believed to be lifted accordance to a demand made by some Tamil Parties in Sri Lanka which are expected to join All party government   to be formed by the current government .

Postal Charges To Be Increased From Tomorrow (15)

 The postal charges are scheduled to be increased with effect from tomorrow (15) according to the Sri Lanka Postal Department ,





According to the increase the Postal charge of an ordinary letter  will be increased to Rs .50 from Rs.15 and the Registered Postal fee of Rs.45 will be increased to Rs.110 .The freight charges will be increased to Rs.200 for goods weighing up to 250 grammes .

However several other Postal charges are due to be lowered according to the Postal Department .
