Colombo Fort Magistrate Has Remanded Union Leader Stalin Until 12th Of Aaugust

 Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage had yesterday (04) ordered to remand the General secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union and one of the leaders of the Galle Face protest Joseph Stalin until 12th of August over holding a protest march by violating a court order .

The Colombo Fort Police had arrested Stalin last Wednesday (03) evening over organizing a protest march in Colombo fort on 28th of May violating a court order issued against holding a protest in the area. Police had produced the suspect before the Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday .

Meanwhile Colombo Fort Magistrate Court had released two leaders of the Galle Face protest Pathum Kerner and you tuber /Social Media activist Ranidu Senarathne alias "Ratta"  who were  arrested and remanded last week ,on bail .

A Passenger Was Died And 12 Were Injured Due To A Private Bus Accident

A passenger had died and another 12 were injured and hospitalized after the Private Bus they were travelling in wearing away from the road and fallen down  a 80 feet deep precipice at Malnawa area in Nuwara Eliya yesterday (04) according to the Police.




The Bus was travelling from Pundaluoya to Gampola at the time of the incident and the accident occurred when the Bus had attempted to provide a space in the road for  another Bus  it has been revealed. Injured were admitted to  the Kotmale and Gampola hospitals .


Private Bus Owners Had Launched An Island Wide Strike Today (05)

 Private Bus owners had launched an Island Wide strike since midnight last night (04) demanding a  sufficient amount of fuel for Private Buses according to Private Bus Unions .


Private Bus unions are also opposing the Government's decision to reduce the  minimum Bus fare from Rs.38 to Rs.34 without supplying sufficient amount of fuel for buses .Currently authorities have taken steps to provide 40 liters of Diesel per week for a Private bus under the QR Code system and that amount is not sufficient according to the Private Bus Unions .

Supreme Court Extended The Travel Ban Imposed On Former Sri Lankan Premier And Finance Minister

The Supreme Court has today (03) extended the foreign travel ban imposed on former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe and his brother former Finance Minister Basil Rajapakshe until 11 th of August after taken in to consideration a motion filed against them and the former Central Bank governor Ajith Nivad Cabral requesting  the court to prevent them leaving the country.


According to the motion filed at the Supreme Court on 13th of July ,the  petitioners had named the former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Former Finance Minister Basil Rajapakshe and Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivad Cavral as respondents of the current economic crisis prevailing  in the country ,
