Leader Of The House Dinesh Gunawardena To Be Sworn In As New Prime Minister

 Leader of The House  Dinesh Gunawardane is scheduled to be sworn in as the New Prime Minister of Sri Lanka tomorrow morning (22) before President Ranil Wikramasinghe  until the  formation  of an All Party government ,President's Media division has announced this evening (21).The Prime Minister's post has become  vacant after the former Premier Ranil Wikramasinghe has been appointed as the President of Sri Lanka. 


After swearing in of  the new Prime Minister , Current Cabinet of Ministers appointed by ex president Gotabhaya Rajapakshe are scheduled to be sworn in before the President Ranil Wikramasinghe .

New President Sworn In - Galle Face Protest Continues For the 104th day

 Ranil Wikramasinghe was sworn in as 08th Executive President of Sri Lanka this morning before the Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya at the Parliament Complex building in Colombo .



He  has now become the first Executive President in Sri Lanka who has been  elected  as the president  whilst the Political party he represents has only a single seat in Parliament .President Ranil Wikramasinghe who  held Prime Minister's post  six times previously was defeated at the Parliamentary Election held in 2020 ..His Party the United National Party (UNP) had only  managed to secure a National List MP Post in that election and the new president had entered parliament through the National list slot received by  his party .

Meanwhile Galle Face protest continues today (21) for the 104th day .

Galle Face Protest To Continue Until President Ranil Wikramasinghe Leaves Office

 Galle face protest will continues until the current President Ranil Wikramasinghe is being chased away from his post according to the Protesters .



Addressing the media at "Gota go village " in Galle Face green ,Colombo today (20) the convener of Inter University Student's Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige has stated that the appointment of  Ranil Wikramasinghe's has not portrayed the public opinion and he has been appointed to the Prime Minister's  post by former President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe  to protect his family members and their wrong acts .

State Owned Ceypetco Fuel Stations To Issue Fuel For Motorists On A Limited Basis

 Fuel stations belonging to Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) which were shut down recently due to the fuel shortage are to be re- opened from tomorrow (21) to issue Fuel to motorists on a limited basis .


Accordingly Fuel will be issued to the Motorists from Ceypetco fuel stations tomorrow according to the final digit of their vehicle register number  .Under this programme a Motorcyclist can get maximum of Rs.1500 worth fuel ,A Three wheeler driver Rs.2000 worth fuel and a Motor Car Rs.7000 worth fuel Ceypetco has announced .

Delivering a speech at the Parliament this morning  after being elected  as the 08th Executive President of Sri Lanka ,President Ranil Wikramasinghe has made a special appeal from all the factions to come together to implement a new mechanism to solve the problems faced by people of the country .

"Sri Lanka is currently under economic crisis and youth are demanding a system change to overcome this crisis  .People are not demanding us to do old politics anymore   and what   they want is all the  parties to come together and work with unity .All the factions in the Parliament including the other two contestants who contested with  me at the President's race MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Opposition LeaderSajith Premadasa   should join hands with me to implement a new mechanism to overcome the current crisis faced by  the country " he has stressed .
