Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse University Students Protest March

 Police have today (08) fired tear gas  and water cannons to disperse a Student Protest March organized by Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) when the students had attempted to enter Bank Of Ceylon Road in Colombo Fort ,


Thousands of University students had started this protest march in front of Kelaniya University and when they have attempted to pull out the barricades used to block the access to Bank Of Ceylon road in Colombo Fort ,Police have fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse them it has been reported ,

Police Curfew Imposed In Seven Areas In Western Province Until Further Notice

 Police Curfew had been imposed in Seven areas  of Western Province with effect from 9 p.m tonight (08) until further notice prior to the Nationwide protest scheduled to be launched against the present government tomorrow (09) the Department Of Police have announced ,


Accordingly Police curfew had been imposed in Negambo ,Kelaniya ,Nugegoda ,Mount Lavinia ,Colombo Central ,Colombo South and Colombo North the Department had stated ,This Police curfew will be strictly enforced against those who are attempting to violate the curfew   Police have stressed, Police have banned public movements during the Curfew hours in those areas and public are being requested to use an alternative routes to travel .

American Sanctions On Russia Do Not Affect Sri Lanka -US Ambassador

 The sanctions United States had imposed on Russian crude oil do not effect Sri Lanka to purchase fuel from Russia American Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung has stated .

Former MP Hirunika Premachandre And few others Launched A Protest Campaign In Front Of Presdient's House


 Former MP Hirunika Premachandere had launched a protest campaign in front of President's house in Colombo this noon along with few belongs to Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Demanding President Gotabaya Rajapakshe to resign from his post ,

Later Hirunika and other protesters were arrested by the Police .Those arrested were later released on bail after been produced before the Supreme Court ,

Railways Strike Has Ended

 The strike action launched by Several categories of Railway employees since yesterday (05)over their inability to report to work as a result of the fuel shortage had ended this evening (06) ,


The strike launched by a section of Engine drivers ,Railway Guards and several other  categories in the Railway department had caused the cancellation of more than 50 percent of Train journey's today it has been reported ,The strike affected commuters badly .

Railway Employees had called off the strike after the discussions held with Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardane where an agreement has been reached among the participants  to supply transport facilities to the Railway employees .
