President Ordered To Release Funds From Covid Fund To Purchase Essential Medicines

 After Government Hospital patients had undergone  enormous difficulties due to the severe Drug shortage occurred in Hospitals since months ,President Gotabaya Rajapakshe had today (03) requested the relevant officials to release Rs.1,8 billion from Covid-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund   to import essential medicines President Media Unit has announced .


President had instructed the relevant officials to release the money from Covid fund to import essential medicines during a discussion held at President's house  in Colombo today (03) with health officials and local drug manufacturers ,

President had stressed that as Corona is under control in the country the funds of the Covid fund collected through donations  can be used for other health needs of the country  ,

Telecommunication Tax To Be Increased From Tonight (03)

 Telecommunication tax is scheduled to be increased to 15 percent from 11.25 percent with effect from midnight tonight (03) the National Telecommunication Regulatory Commission(TRC) had announced .


Accordingly Telephone fares will  also be increased the Commission has stated ,

More Than 2000 Bakeries Had Shut Down Due To Gas/Fuel Shortage

More than 2000 Bakeries out of the 7000 Bakeries located in the island had been shut down so far due to the Shortage of Gas ,Fuel and flour according to the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association ,


If this trend continues further they will be queues to buy Bakery products in future the Association had stated .

Litro Gas Distribution To Be Resumed Tomorrow (31)

 A Ship carrying 3500 Metric tones of LP Gas had arrived in Colombo Harbor today (30) according to the Litro Gas Company .


The Gas stock is currently being unloaded from the Ship and Litro Company is due to distribute 60,000 Gas Cylinders per day from tomorrow (31) the Company ha stressed .

Sri Lanka has paid US Dollars 6.5 million for a shipment of 7500 Metric tones of LP Gas and another shipment of 4000 Metric tones of Gas is scheduled to be reached the Country soon it has been reported .

Sri Lanka Needs US Dollars 554 To Purchase Fuel For June

 Sri Lanka needs US Dollars 554 million to import fuel for the month of June and out of that  only have US Dollars 100 million received under the Indian credit line so far for this purpose according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare ,


According to the Minister he is due to hold talks with the Central Bank to get the remaining US Dollars 454 to purchase fuel However Central Bank is facing a US Dollars shortage at the moment it has been earlier announced ,
