Fifty Three MP''s In Government Want Speaker To Suspend Provision Of MP's Lunch

 Fifty three MP's representing governing Sri Lanka Progressive Party (Podujana peramuna ) had handed over a letter to the Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today (19)requesting to suspend the provision of  lunch for all MP's in the house in view of the economic difficulties faced by the general public at present .


At this stage it will be not fair to spend large amount of money to provide lunch for the MP's and Parliament staff the letter that handed over to the Speaker had stated .The group of MP's had requested the speaker to take steps to provide a lunch for the MP's of the house for the market price when the parliamentary sessions are being held on the whole day .,

Price Of Loaf Of Bread Increased By Rs.30

 Price of a Loaf of Bread weighing 450 Grammes will be  increased by Rs.30 and prices of all other Bakery products will be increased by Rs.10 each with effect from mid night tonight (19) according to the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association .


This price increase will come into effect due to the increase of a Kilo Gramme of Wheat flour by Rs.35 the Association had stated .According to the new price hike the Price of a loaf of Bread will be Rs.170 it has been revealed .

Litro Company Paid Money For Two Gas Ships

 Litro Gas Company had paid two ships which brought Gas stocks to Sri Lanka the Company has announced today (17) .



The Company is currently unloading 2800 metric tones of Gas brought by one 0f the ships and will take steps to distribute 80,000 Gas cylinders pee day  from tomorrow (18) the Company  had stressed .

Meanwhile due to the Fuel shortage long queues had been seen in many areas of  Colombo and outstation areas .

Prime Minister's S Office To Cut It's Expenditure

 Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsingfhe's Office had decided to cut down the monthly expenditure of the office for the month of June by 50 percent due to the current economic crisis .

According to the Prime Minister's secretary Saman Ekanayake Prime Minister Wikramasinghe wants other state institutions to follow this procedure due to the economic crisis .Prime Minister had transfer 26 employees recruited to Prime Minister 's office from other institutions .Prime Minister Wikranmainsghe 's office had handed ov
er 16 vehicles brought from other institutions .

Two MP's And Three Persons Attached To Provincial Councils /Urban Council Arrested Over Attacking Protesters

 The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) had arrested two Parliamentarians Former state Minister Sanath Nishnatha and Milan Jayathilake this evening (17) over attacking the protesters  held protests in front of Prime Minister's official residence "Temple Trees " and Gotagogame in Galle face green last Monday (09) .


They are due to be given  statements to the CID regarding the assault over protesters it has been revealed .Meanwhile CID officers had arrested three persons including tow   former Provincial councilors and a urban council worker over the assault over the protesters and they were remanded after being produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate .

CID officers have arrested them last night .
