Leaders Of Government Allied Parties Requested President To Remove Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe

 Leaders of the 11 allied Parties attached to  the Government and the Independent Group had sent a letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe yesterday (09) requesting to remove Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe and appoint a new Cabinet representing all Political parties under a new Prime Minster   to appease the current chaotic situation  in the country .

Through this letter the Political party leaders had also requested the president to appoint a National Executive Board and proposed to go for a general election within a short period of time after appointing the new Cabinet .They have also want to restrict the number of Cabinet Ministers appointed for the new Cabinet .

Main Opposition To Bring A No Confidence Motion Against Govt.-An Impeachment Motion Against President

 The Main opposition Samagijanablawegaya  Party is currently collecting signatures from MP's  for an Impeachment motion against President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe besides collecting signatures for a no confidence motion against the government according to Parliamentary sources.


So far  nearly 100 MP's had signed the no confidence motion against the government it has been revealed .The Main Opposition party also begun to collect signatures for an Impeachment motion or a motion to cut the expenditure of President or to abolish the controversial 20th amendment which provides unlimited executive powers to the President, the Political sources have stated ,

However some of the former Government MP's who are functioning  in the parliament as an Independent Group since last week not yet decided whether to support the No confidence motion scheduled to be submitted against the Government the sources have revealed .These MP's are of the view If the government fails to appoint a new Cabinet representing all Political Parties under a new Prime Minister they will support the no confidence motion against the government .

Meanwhile Opposition Parties have decided to bring a no confidence motion against the speaker if he refuses to accept Impeachment  motion or any other motion  scheduled to be handed over to him  against the President  Oppositions party leaders have stated ,

It Is Likely That There Will Be No More Power Cuts For New Year Holidays -Public Utilities Commission

 The Public Utilities Commission had today (08) stated  it is likely that there will be no more power cuts scheduled for New Year holidays falls on 13 th and 14th April .



The Chairman of the Commission Janaka Rathnayake had said due to the lack of demand for Electricity during that period and sufficient stock of fuel available at the Ceylon Electricity Board to generate power
there will be no power cut schedule for those days .

 National List MP Of the governing Sri Lanka Poudjana Peramuna Party Ali Sabry had today (08) announced  in Parliament that he is still the Finance Minister of the country .
