Body Of A 79 Year Old Female Who Died From Corona Accidentally released to Relatives

 Authorities of Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara (Western Province )had accidentally released a body of a Corona infected female to her relatives and later taken back the body to the hospital after the PCR Test performed on the dead has proved that  she had infected with   Corona infection .


The incident occurred as the PCR Test result performed on the dead had been issued after releasing the body to the relatives of the deceased at Pothuvila area it has been reported. As a result twelve persons including family relatives and the workers attached to a funeral parlor in Kalutra were sent to self quarantine by the health authorities .

Nagoda Hospital authorities had  later cremated the body of the 79 year old female resident of Pothuwila area who had tested positive  for corona virus at the Pothuwila  crematorium .\


827 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (20)

 A total of 827 Corona Positives had been reported in the country today (20) Increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported so far to 599,363 according to Epidemiology Unit .


At the moment 15,279 Corona Positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and under home care system the Unit has stated ,

Twelve Corona Deaths Reported Today (20)

 Another 12 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (20),Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 15,255 according to Director General Of  Health Services (DGHS).


Accordingly 08 males and 04 females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated .Out of the deceased 09 were over 60 years of age and 02 were belonged to 30-60 year age group it has been revealed ,One of the deceased was under 30 years of age .

A 26 Year Old Female Died With Foot Burn Injuries After Participating In A Fire Walking Ceremony

 A 26 year old female who had participated in a fire walking ceremony held at a  Hindu temple in Armor Street ,Colombo during an Annual religious Ceremony had died due to foot burn injuries according to the Police .



The female who had participated in fire walking ceremony held at the temple on Thaipongal day (14) had been admitted to Colombo National Hospital with severe foot burn injuries the day after the incident it has been revealed ,She had succumbed to he injuries today whilst receiving treatment in National Hospital the Police have stated .

Several Areas Had Faced Power Cuts Due To The Stoppage Of Generating Electricity In Kelanithissa Power Plant

Power cuts had been experienced in many parts of the Island since this evening (19) due to the complete  stoppage of generating electricity in Kealnithissa Power plant as a result of the fuel shortage . 


Accordingly power cuts ranging one hour to one and half hours had been imposed in many parts of the country under two phases according to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). The power cuts had been imposed in many areas between  6 p.m to 7.45 p.m and 7.45 p.m to 9.30 p.m the Board has stated .

The kelanithissa power plant generates 300 megawatt of power to the national power grid .

Many power plants belonging to the Ceylon Electricity Board had faced a shortage of diesel  to generate power it has been reported .
