Ministry Of Power To Implement Island Wide Power Cuts From Today (04)

The Ministry Of Power had decided to implement a minimum of One hour long Island wide power cut for four days with effect from today (04).

This power cut will be imposed between 6 p.m to 9.30 p.m until restoring the power generating activity of the Norochcholai Coal Power plant which was broke down as a result of the Island wide blackout occurred yesterday (03) the Ministry has stated ,

The Norochcholai Coal power plant is generating a maximum of 900 Mega watts to the national power grid it has been revealed .

21 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (04)

Another 21 Corona deaths had been reported today (04) Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 14,440 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS) .

Accordingly 15 males and 06 females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS had stated ,Out of the deceased 15 were over 60 years of age and 06 were belonged to the age group 30-60 years it has been revealed .

740 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (04)

A total of 740 Corona positives had been reported in the country today (04) ,Increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 566,936 according to Epidemiology Unit .

At the moment 10,486 Corona positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and under home care system the Unit has stated .

First Sri Lankan Infected With Omicron Variant Had Been Identified

The first Corona positive infected with the new contagious "omicron *variant had been identified in Sri Lanka today (03)according to Health circles .

The 25 year old patient who is a female arrived in from Nigeria is a resident in Marawila area it had been reported .She was tested positive for Omicron varient through an on arrival.PCR performed on her at the Katunayake International Airport in.Colombo.

Tracing of her contacts is underway at present the Health Sources has stated .
