Many Patients In Government Hospitals Faced Enormous Difficulties Due To The Strike Of Health Professions

 Tens of thousands of OPD patients  and resident patients in Government Hospitals had faced enormous difficulties as many services in Hospitals are being paralyzed due to the two day Island wide strike launched by 21 Health Professions including Nurses, Professions Supplementary To Medicine (PSM) ,Paramedical officers demanding solutions for 07 of their service demands .


As a result of the strike Patient care in wards ,Lab tests ,Radiography tests ,EEG/ECG Tests and issuing of drugs  in Government Hospitals and Dengue Control activities and PCR And Rapid Antigen Tests had been halted it has  been reported .

The strike is due to  be continued until this Friday morning according to Health Tarde Union Alliance .


23 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (24)

 A Total of 23 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (24) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 14,205 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS).


Accordingly 12 females and 11 Males had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated ,Out of the deceased 18 were over 60 years of age and 05 belonged to 30-60 year age group It has been revealed .

744 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (24)

. Another 744 Corona Positives had been reported in the country today (24) ,Increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported so far to 559,605 according to Epidemiology Unit .


At the moment 17,471 Corona positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and under Home Care system the Unit has stated ,

Six Including School Children Died After The Ferry They Were Travelling in Capsized

 Six persons including Four School Children had died after the ferry they have in Capsized in Kinniya ,Trincomalee  early this morning (23).


Seventeen persons including School Children were there in the ferry at the time of this incident and Navy rescue  teams had saved the lives  of 11 of the drowned passengers of the ferry with minor injuries The injured were admitted to Kinniya Hospital for treatment ,

Navy and Police diving teams had engaged in rescue operations.
