Excise Officers Arrested Nearly 200 Persons Who Had Participated A Facebook Narcotic Party At Kandy

Central Provincial Excise Department
officials have arrested nearly 200 persons including some higher officials whilst using narcotics at a facebook party hosted in one of the leading hotels in Kandy last morning (16).

A large haul of narcotics imcluding Heroin ,Cannabis ,Kerala Cannabis and ice had been recovered in possession of a group of suspects.

During the raid which was carried out by 15 Excise officers of the Special operations unit attached to the Central Provincial Excise Department  officers have arrested nearly 200 participants including  a prison jailer,  Superintendent of Police, Two university students and a group of executive officers attached to  a provate company .

However Excise officers have released all other suspects except 25 youth who had narcotics in their possession and 17 others including the organisers of the party .Excise  Officers are due to inform the Police and Prison departments regarding the relevent officers arrested during the raids .

The Narcotic party was organized to mark Valantines day and charged Rs.2500 from a person who had been participated in the event through Facebook it has been revealed .Those who had used narcotics have paid an extra amount of Rs.3500  .

The team of excise Officers too had purchased tickets to enter the party and to get the information on the event it has been revealed .

Authorities are scheduled to be taken action against the leading hotel in Kandy which hosted the party over issuing liquor for the party by violating liquor license .

HOrton Plains Wild Life Park To Issue Tickets To Enter The Park Until 2 p.m Daily

Authorities of the HOrton plains National Wildlife Park have decided to suspend  the  issuing of passes to local and foreign tourists who are visiting to view  the Wild Life Park at 2 p.m daily it has been announced .

This decision has been taken to encourage  the tourists to visit the Wild Life park early morning during  the day as it takes four hours to reach places like world's end and Bakers falls by walking around 8 Kilo meters  within the park authorities have revealed .

As Wild animals in the park too needs to walk freely in the evening so no tourist will be allowed to stay at the park after 6 p.m according to authorities .

Two Persons Had Been killed Due To A Road Accident In Eravur

Two persons had been killed and two
others had been critically injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Lorry arrived in from opposite side at Siththandi area  ,Eravur (Eastern province ) this morning .

The two of the critically injured had been admitted to Sandiveli and Batticaloa Hospitals for treatment.

The deceased had been identified as 71 and 41 year old persons resided in lunugala and Kiran areas .

Eravur Police have arrested the Lorry driver over the imcident. 

A Fire Erupted In A Reserve At Hatton Destroyed 10.Acres Of Land

Around 10 acres of land belonging to
Pinus cultivation reserve at vigton  area in  Hatton  ,Ruwan pura had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted at  the reserve this evening  (16).

The fire Brigade attached to the Hatton -DiKoya Urban Council and Hatton Police are currently involved  in dousing the fire .Fire fighters had not been able to contain the fire as they were  unable to carry the fire equipment to the area due to the mountains located in the site it has been revealed .

Meanwhile the Minister of Social Empowerment and Estate infrastructure development Arumugam Thondaman who had visited the area had advised the Hatton Police to arrest those who are responsible for the lighting of fire in reserves and produce them  before court .

Sri Lanka's Foreign Relations Minister Had Talks With US Ambassador Regarding US Travel Ban Against Army Commander

Sri lanka's Minister of Foreign Relations
Dinesh Gunawardana has today (16)requested the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina Teplitz to ask US government to review the decision taken to ban Army Commander General Shavendra De Silva and his immediate family members from entering United States Of America over human rights violation charges levelled against him.

US Ambassador Teplitz had met with the Foreign Relations Minister today according to a request made by the Minister to come to the Ministry in view  of   discussing the US travel ban imposed Against the Army Commander.

During the one hour meeting Minister Gunawardana has stated that government has condemned the US Move against the Army Commander as it will effect the changes made by present government .

In response US Ambassador had promised the Minister to inform the US State department on the response of Sri Lankan government over the issue .
