Retired Army Major Ajith Prasanna Had Been Remanded Over Contempt Of Court Charges

Ganepola has yesterday  (24)ordered to Remand Retired Army Major ,Attorney At Law Ajith Prasanna until 07 th of February over the charges of contempt of Court.

High Court Judge had remanded the Retired Army Major Ajith Prasanna after he had appeared before the court yesterday accordance to the summons issued against him by the   court .

 The suspect is being charged over criticising several on going  court cases including a case filed against Former Magistrate Thilina Gamage during press briefing.

Attorney General who had filed the case against the suspect   had stated by criticising the ongoing court  cases suspect has attempted to influence the witnesses and judges of those cases.

Local Lawyers Staged A Protest In Front Of Colombo Chief Magistrate Court Against The Arrest Order Of High Court Judge Pilapitiya

Lawyers belonging to Colombo Bar
Association had staged a silent protest
in front of the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court this noon (24)against the order made by Attorney General Dappula De Livera to arrest Embilipitiya High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya.

Accordingly Protesting lawyers have stressed hat the Attorney General Has no power to order an arrest of a High Court Judge. 'Dappula De Livera violates the law they have stated.

Attorney General had ordered the Colombo Crimes Division yesterday (23)to  arrest Judge Gihan Pilapitiya after obtaining an arrest warrant from.the court over having a telephone conversation with MP Ranjan Ramanayake .

The talks are being held under the instructions of sri Lankan Foreign Ministry .

Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing had opened a social media account in 'We chat " social media platform to issue guidelines to Sri Lankans ĺiving in Wuhan City on how to prevent the
spreading of New Corona  virus issued by World Health Organization .

Meanwhile complaints  are pouring in to Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing from local relatives of Sri Lankans in China inquiring on their  whereabouts  it has been revealed .
