CID Arrested Former Army Corporal Over The Stabbing Of Former Editor Mr.Upali Thennakoon

Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Officials have arrested a former Corporal  attached
to the Army Intelligence Unit over stabbing and seriously injuring the former Editor of "Divaina " and Rivira" newspapers Mr.Upali Thennakoon ,at Hanwella area today (08) according to the Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare .

The suspect was identified as his fingerprint were among the 285 fingerprints taken from Army officers for the investigations on Former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge and it proves as similar to the fingerprint found in Mr.Thennakoon's Motor Car the Media Spokesman has stressed .

CID officials had collected these fingerprints as a fingerprint found from the Motor Car belonging to former Sunday Leader Editor.

Four Herds Of Cattle Had Been Killed After Colliding With A Train

Four herds of cattle had been killed after colliding with a Express Train travelling from
Colombo to Jaffna at Thandikulam in Vavuniya District this evening  (08) it has been reported.

Another cow had stucked  between the train compartment and the Rail track caused a delay of Train reaching Jaffna around one hour according to reports.Due to this  situation Train services in Northern Railway line from Vavuniya to Jaffna had been  for some time .

Power Cuts Experienced In Few Areas Due To Restriction Of Fuel Supply To Electricity Board

Electricity Supply in few areas
throughout the island had restricted today (08)due to the restriction of fuel supply to the Ceylon Electricity Board by Ceylon Petroleum Corporation  (CEYPETCO ).

CEYPETCO had restricted the fuel supply to the Electricity Board as a result of Board delaying the paying of Rs.80 billion debt to the  CEYPETCO  it has been revealed.

As a result of the fuel supply restriction ,around 150 Mega Watts of power had been  removed from the Power system and some areas are being experiencing power cuts at present due to this situation  the Ministry has stressed.

Ministry of Power and Energy is due to hold discussions with the Ministry of Finance to restore the Electricity supply it has been revealed. 

Fourteen Indian Nationals Had Arrested Whilst Staying In Sri Lanka With Expired Visas

Immigration and Emigration
Department officials had today  (08)arrested 14 Indian Nationals who had been stayed in Sri Lanka illegally after expiring their visas .

Out of the suspects 12 Indian Nationals who arrived in Sri Lanka from tourist visas Had been arrested whilst working in a Hotel construction site at AluthGama,Kalutara it has been reported .02 others had been arrested whilst staying in the country after expiring their resident visas .

All the suspects had sent to Mirihana Detention Center and currently being questioned by investigations and intelligence unit of the Immigration and Emigration Department  it has been revealed.


CID Arrested Rakna LAnka Chairman Over Avant-Guarde Floating Armoury

Criminal Investigations Department 
(CID)has today (08)arrested the Chairman of Rakna LAnka private Victor Samaraweera over maintaining a floating armoury around Sri Lankan sea area ,after being surrendered to the CID .

The Suspect is one of the eight persons Attorney General Had directed CID to arrest and produce before the court regarding Avant-Guarde floating armoury case  .

The suapect is due to be produced before the Galle Magistrate court tomorrow  (09).
