Fernando and Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara are due to be appeared before Criminal Investigations Department (CID ) this morning (02)to give a statement regarding the Easter Sunday attacks it has been reported.

USA Do Not Need To Set Up A Security Base In Sri Lanka -USA Ambassador

American Ambassador to Sri Lanka and
Maldives Alaina Teplitz has stated that USA do not  need or plan  to setting up a security  Base  in Sri Lanka  as some sections have  mentioned   .

Under the proposed "SOFA" bilateral Defense agreement due to be signed with  Sri Lanka ,USA only  ailms to provide  support she has stressed .However some sections are  spreading false information regarding the agreement the USA Ambassador has tweeted .


Ten Persons Including Eight Prisoners On Death Row Had Filed FR Petitions At Court Against Capital Punishment

Ten Persons including Eight Prisoners
on death row and Two civil activists had filed fundamental Rights petitions at Supreme Court Today  (01)requesting the court to issue an interim order preventing the implementation of Capital punishment  .
The petitioners had Stated through their petitions that President Maithripala Sirisena had signed papers to hang four Prisoners on death row and the fundamental rights of prisoners are being violated due to this .
Petitioners imcluding the two civil activists representing Center for Policy Alternatives had named few government officials including Attorney General ,Justice Minister Thalatha Atukorale and President's Secretary Udaya R Seneviratne as respondents in their petitions .
