Negambo-Colombo Main Road Closed Due To A Fire

Due to a sudden fire erupted in a Textile  shop at Wattala area ,short while ago Negambo
-Colombo main road had been temporarily  closed down from Wattala Police Station .

Colombo Municipal and Paliayagoda fire trucks are currently involved in dousing the fire fire.The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

A Person Was Arrested When He Attempted To Bribe A Police Officer

A 72 year old person had been arrested whilst attempting to bribe a Police officer in Eravur
Police (Northern Province) yesterday (23).

The suspect who is attached to a financial institute in North had been arrested whilst attempting to give Rs.1000 as a bribe to the police officer who was writing a complaint against him over not paying installments of a financial loan taken from a  financial institute to purchase two vehicles .

When the suspect who is a resident of Akkareipattu area attempting to give the money ,The police officer had refused it and arrested him at the Eravur Police station.

Nine Iranian Nationals With A Ship Transporting A Large Haul Of Heroin Taken In To Custody In Southern Sea Coast

Nine Iranian Nationals had been
arrested whilst transporting a large haul of  Heroin worth more than Rs.10 billion in a ship at the southern sea coast last night(23) jointly by the Police Anti Narcotic Bureau,Special Police Task Force personal and Sri Lanka Navy .

At the time the ship was raided the suspects inside the ship had thrown bags containing more than 50 million kilo gramms of Heroin into the sea  it has bedn revealed .

The ship that had taken into custody is currently being taken into Colombo Harbor.The haul of Heroin transported to Sri Lanka from Pakistan accirding to the Police.

Special Police Task Force Personal have  stated that the Ship that taken in to custody whilst transporting Heroin had used by Drug kingpin Makandure Madush to transport Heroin to Sri Lanka.

Investigations are underway regarding the incident.

A Person Was Killed And Twenty Persons Injured Due To Toppling Of A Luxary Bus

A  41 year old passanger had been
killed and 25 others had been injured and hospitalized after the Luxary bus they were travelling in toppled over to a house after colliding with a high voltage lamp post near the welipanna entry of the Southern Expressway on Mathugama-Aluthgama road last evening (23).

The injured had been admitted to Nagoda Hospital.

The incident occurred when the high speed Negambo-Galle  Luxary Bus Travelling  to Matara carried pasangers went to a picinic crashed in to the lamp post.Welipanna Police have arrested the driver of the Bus who was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident .

A mother and daughter walking in the road at the time of the accident were among those injured .The deceased was identified as a resident of Ahungalla

President Has Assured Not A Single Plot Of Land In Vipattu Had Been Sold Since 2015

President Maithripala Sirisena has yesterday (23)assured that not a single plot of land had been handed over to a person or an institution since January 2015 by responding to accusations made by social media  that the  Vilpattu Wild life reserve is being  destroyed by a politician.


Addressing an All Religious event held in Kandy yesterday (23)President has stressed that no one destroyed the Wild life reserve since 2015.

Meanwhile Ministry Of Defemse has announced that Durinh the observations done by Sri Lanka Air Force since 2015 it has found that no harm done to the reserve during last four years.

However Social media sites as well as Enviornmemtal Organizations are accused that a Politician is responsible for destroying Vilpattu Wild reserve.

Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella has yesterday (23)announced in Parliament that he is ready to give a debate on the Vilpattu crisis as requested by some UNP Backbenchers .
