A Student Has Died After Drowning In A Canal

A 14 year old student has died due to 
drowning in a canal last evening (11) near his house at  Udupussallawa area (Central Province ).

The deceased student had been identified as a resident of Rupaha area ,Udupussallawa who had epilepsy .


Heavy Traffic In Baseline Road Due To Toppling Over A Container Truck

A heavy traffic had been reported for
several hours in several Roads at Colombo since this noon (12)due to a toppling over of a Container Truck over the Baseline Road in Dematagoda in front of Welikada Prison it has been reported .

The heavy traffic occurred at the exit point from Colombo at Baseline road as a result of the incident.

Authorities have engaged in removing the Container Truck from the road this evening and Police have requested the motorists to use an alternative routes to travel. 

A 21 Hour Long Water Cut Ti Be Imposed In Ten Areas Of Colombo From Tomorrow (13)

National Water Supplies And Drainage Board has decided to impose a 21 hour water cut in ten
areas in and around Colombo from 8 a.m tomorrow(13) to 5 a.m next day (14) due to an essential maintenance work .


Accordingly water supply to Maharagama ,Boralesgamuwa, Pannipitiya, Kottawa, Maththegoda, Palanwatte ,Rukmalgama ,Padukka,Homagama and Meepe areas due to cut for 21 hours .

This kind of long water cuts cause great inconvenience to the  General Public it has been revealed.

A Person Was Arrested With 148 Cigarette Cartons Illegally Brought To Sri Lanka

Narcotic Control Unit officers attached to Airport Customs have today (12) arrested a 41 year
old person whilst attempting to smuggle 148 Cigarette cartons containing 29,600 foreign made cigarette sticks illegally to the country  at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport .

The suspect who is a resident of Minuwangoda area ,had arrived  from Dubai through Emirates flight and has hidden the stock of Cigarette cartons inside his luggage it has been revealed.

The suspect had been arrested whilst leaving through the "Green Chanel" of the Airport according to Customs.

The stock of  Cigarette sticks taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is worth around Rs.1.62 million it has been estimated.
