Drama At Kinniya -Two Illegal Sand Miners Jumped In To Mahaweli River To Escape From Navy -Two Drowned ,One Body recovered

A Person Has Drowned and another
had gone missing when they had jumped in to Mahaweli River and attempted to swim to escape from Navy Personal who had chased them over illegally involving in sand mining near MahawelI estuary at Kandalkadu area in Kinniya ,Trincomalee today (29).

The victims were 19 and 22 year old persons from Kinniya it has been revealed.

The incident occurred when a group of Navy Personal had raided a group of persons who had involved in illegal sand mining near MahawelI estuary this morning.

To escape from Navy Personal two of the sand miners had jumped in to the MahawelI River and swam .However soon they have drowned it has been revealed .

In view of catching them Navy Personal fired gun shots to the air and as a result hundreds of villagers in the area gathered near River and protested against the action .

Due to the protest Police officers were called to control the situation. Even when Navy divers attempting to launch a search mission to find the missing, Villagers opposed it according to reports.

Afterwards Navy Personal withdrew  from the search mission and the villagers have launched a search mission to find out the missing persons with the  help of fisheries boats  .

The body of one of the missing had been recovered this evening according to sources .

A Four Storied Building At Matara Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire

A four storey Motor Spare parts Shop
building at Pamburana in Matara (Southern Province )had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the building this evening  (29) it has been reported.

The fire brigades in Galle and Matara along with the villagers have controlled the spreading of fire further.

No casualties had been reported due to the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and the  value of the damage done to the building as a result of fire has not yet been estimated .

Another Batch Of 1608 Nurses To Be Received Diplomas And Appointment Letters This Thursday

Handing over of  Diplomas and
appointment letters to 1608 Nurses who had passed out from Nursing Schools is scheduled to be held at Temple Trees, Colombo on this Thursday (31)morning under the patronage of Health Mpinister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .

These Nurses are due to be recruited to Government Hospitals Island Wide according to the Health Ministry.

Around 40,089 Nurses are needed to carrying  out functions of Government Hospitals  as usual and around 35,136 Nurses have already working in Hospitals Ministry has stated.

Nearly 9000 Nursing students are currently studying at Nursing Schools it has been revealed.
