A 23 Year Old Female Had Committed Suicide By Consuming A High Dose Of A Drug

A 23 year old young female who had
stayed and worked at a Private Medical Center in Danbar Street ,Hatton had committed suicide last Sunday (27)night by consuming a high dose of a drug prescribed for an illness it has been reported.

The deceased female who was a resident of watagoda ,Thalawakale area had consumed the high dose of the drug at Private Medical Center and informed it to her brother through a  phone it has been revealed .

Then the brother had informed the doctor at Medical center over the incident and as  a result the female who was in critical condition at that time was admitted to DiKoya Base Hospital for teatment .

However she has died on the admission. The reason behind her suicide has not yet been revealed .

A Person Was Arrested With 86,4 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis

Point Pedro Police have arrested a 50
year old person with around 86.4 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in his possession at Viyaparamullai area in Point Pedro yesterday  (28)accordance to an information provided by Navy intelligence unit.

The stock of Kerala Cannabis hidden inside a roof of a House in the area it has been revealed .

Point Pedro Police is investigating on the incident further and a legal action is due to be taken against the suspect .

Traffic Light System.To Be Introduced For The Solid /Half Solid And Liquid Food Items From 01st Of April

Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has decided to introduce  Traffic Light System which displays  the amount of Sugar  ,Salt and fat contains in food items in their labels, to Solid/Half Solid and Liquid food items with effect from 01 st of April .

Accordingly from 01st of April all Solid/Half Solid and Liquid food items selling in Sri Lanka should display the percentage of Sugar ,Salt and Fat contains in  the food items in   main frame of the label  in view of controlling  spreading of non communicable diseases including  diabetes Ministry has announced today (28).

The decision  regarding this has been taken during a meeting held last week at the Ministry chaired by Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne .

Minister has instructed the Deputy Director General Of Health Services Dr.Lakshman Gamlath to implement this decision  to introduce Traffic Light System to other food items under the Food act  .

The system was introduced to Soft drinks in 2017 to reduce spreading Diabetes In the country .

The producers of Solid /Half Solid and Liquid food items have been informed on this decision last year  (2018)according to the Ministry.
