Local Patients Ate In Danger Due To Prescribing Of Anti Biotics Unneccassirily For Viral Infections -Professor Priyadarshani Galappaththy

Due to prescribing Anti biotic drugs unnecessarily for Virus infections including cough and cold and prescribing them without a limit, lives if many local patients are at risk according to Professor of Pharmacology in Univarsity of Colombo Professor PriyaDarshani Galappaththy.

Addressing a media seminar on "Correct usage of Drugs "held at Health Promotions Bureau in Colombo yesterday  (12)Professor Galappaththy has stressed it is Duty of Both doctors and patients to save Anti Biotics for treating  the   major bacterial infections without use them unnecessarily for viral infections as many bacterial infections now proved as  resisted to Anti Biotics.

Due to the Anti Biotics resistance Only few Antibiotics have been introduced to the market during last few years and as a result an Antibiotics shortage has been created she has said .

Six HIV Infections Per Week Reported In The Country -Anti STD/AIDS Campaign

Six HIV/AIDS virus infected persons are
being reported per week in Sri Lanka at present and around 4200 persons have been estimated as living with HIV/AIDS virus in the country according to National Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STD)/AIDS Campaign.

The highest number of HIV Infections in history which was 285 infections  had been reported last year the Programme has revealed.

Although Sri Lanka is being rated as a country of low prevalence regarding HIV /AIDS ,The risky behaviours causes the infection are on the increase it has been revealed. 

A Police Constable Died After Falling From A Private Bus

A 56 year old Police Constable has died
after falling from a Private Bus travelling from Colombo to Matara in front of Hikkaduwa Long Distance Bus stand yesterday (12).

The critically injured Police Constable who was a resident of Thoranagalwatte ,Hikkaduwa had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

The deceased was attached to Expressway tourism Division at kurundugahahathapma .

A Group Of Persons Hooted At Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara At Supreme Court Premises

A group of persons had hooted at
Minister of Official languages of the Newly appointed government, Vasudeva Nanayakkara after  he made a statement to the media personal at Supreme Court premises this evening  (12) it has been reported.This was happened during a hearing of the Petitions filed at Supreme Court by  the political parties and Civil groups agains dissolvement of Parliament. 

After  the Minister told "President not only have executive powers also People's power" a group of persons there hooted at him .

The Angry Minister has then shouted at the persons who hooted him by using strong language it has been reported.

A Section Of A Ambalanthota -Puhulyaya Road Had Sunk

Ambalanthota -Puhulyaya road had
been closed for traffic  due to a section of the road had sunk as a result of breaking of a culvert  built across the road this morning  (12 ) it has been reported.

Due to this situation motorists using the road from mamadala to Puhulyaya  have been advised to use an alternative routes when travelling.

Ambalanthota Pradishiya Sabha had begun renovation work of the sunken area of the road according to reports.
