A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Foreign Currency Notes

Central Intelligance Unit Officers of the
Sri Lanka Customs have arrested a 58 year old person with a stock of Foreign currency notes worth Rs.10.9 million at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport in wee hours of this morning (09).

The suspect who is a resident of Negambo had arrived at Katunayake Airport this morning to fly to Singapore it has been revealed.

Among the Foreign Currency notes taken in to custody in possession of the suspect are US Dollars,Euros and Singaporean Dollars. 

Five New Cabinet Ministers Had Been Sworn In

Another five Ministers of the new
government had been sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena at President's office in Colombo this evening  (09).

Accordingly Unitrd People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA ) MP Udaya Gammanpila had been sworn in as Minister of Buddha Shasana and Religious Affairs,UPFA MP Johnston Fernando as Minister of Trade and Conumer Affairs -Cooperative development and Christian Affairs  ,MP C.B Ratnayake as Minister of Postal and Telecommunications , ,MP M.L.A.M Hisbulla as Minister of City planning  and Water supply   and MP S.M ChandRasena as Minister of plantation industries

Now 27 Cabinet Ministers of the new government Had been sworn in  .

UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansha Sworn In As Mimister Of Housing

United People's Freedom Alliance
(UPFA)MP Wimal Weerawansha has today (09)sworn in as Minister Of Housing And Social Welfare of the newly appointed government  before President Maithripala Sirisena at President's Office in Colombo.

He is the 22 nd Minister have already been sworn in of the new government.

MP Weerawansha who is also the leader of National Freedom Alliance was housing Minister of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe s previous government and has few court cases filed against him in courts over fraud and corruption.

Under the 19th Amendment of the constitution only 30 Cabinet Ministers can be appointed .

A Section Of The Nawalapitiya Town Has Been Submerged

A section of the Nawalapitiya Town has
been  submerged with two feet of water due to the heavy showers prevailing in today (08).

Few shops in the town too hasnot  been submerged as a result it has been revealed.

Nawalapitiya Town is subjected to be submerged during rainy seasons as the canal system in the town not maintained properly according to reports .
