Funeral Of Late Singer Visharada Amara Ranathunge To Be Held At Borella Cemetery

The funeral of the late popular singer Professor Visharada Amara Ranathunge who had passed away on Monday Night (15)at the Colombo National Hospital is due to be held at Borella Cemetery tomorrow afternoon (18).

The Body of the deceased singer is scheduled to be taken to University Of Visual and Performing Arts at 2 p.m tomorrow it has been announced.

The Late singer  who was also a Music Teacher  ,was 79 years old at the time of her death.

A Section Of A Ratnapura-Embilipitiya Main Road Had Sunk

A section of the Ratnapura-Embilipitiya
main road had sunk from left side at Thiriwanaketiya area today (17)as a result of Heavy showers prevailed in the area it has been reported.

Due to the sunken area of the road transport activities of the road had been restricted to one lane and the sunken area has been covered with Road barricades according to authorities.

As a result people and Motorists are being faced enormous difficulties  it has been revealed.

The Road Development Authority has meanwhile taken steps to build a temporary Alternative Entry road to the Ratnapura -Embilipitiya main road from right hand side of the road .

A 40 year old person was killed due to a

Wild Elephant attack at Eriyawala area in Somawathiya, Polonnaruwa this morning (17)whilest he was walking towards  Somawathiya Temple  from Sungawila area.

The deceased who was a resident of Hali-Ela ,Badulla was walking towards Somawathiya Temple from Sungawila area to worship the Temple at the time of the incident .

Wild Life officers have appealed from the  worshippers not to walk towards Somawathiya Religious Land from Sungawila area due to the Wild Elephant threat .
