A Student Was Killed Due To Motorcycle -Van Collision


A 16 year old student was killed after the
Motorcycle he was riding in colliding with a Van arriving from the Opposite  side    at Idamgoda road in Kiriella -Ehaliyagoda today  (14).

The critically injured student who had  not obtained a driving licence ,had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Ehaliyagoda Hospital .

Police have arrested the Van driver regarding the incident. 

Rice Prices To Be Reduced By Rs.10 From Next Week


Consumers will be able to purchase a Kilo of Rice reduced by Rs.10 from next week according to Minister Of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.

During the talks held between the government and Large scale Rice Mill owners last week regarding controlling the Rice prices  ,Mill owners have agreed to reduce the price of a Rice Kilo by Rs.10 with effect from next week Minister has said at a function held in Hambanthota today (14).

Bandarawela City Has Experienced An Ice Rain Fall

Bandarawela city in Central hills of Sri Lanka had experienced a sudden Ice rain fall this morning (14) according to reports.

This sudden Ice rain fall lasted few minutes sources said.In previous occassions too Bandarawela has experienced similar kind of Ice rain falls.

A Person Was Arrested With 10 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis

Police Anti Corruption Unit had
arrested a 31 year old person whilest transporting 10 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis from a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) at Nochchimutei area in Vavuniya today (14).

The suspect who is a resident of KilinochchI had been arrested as per the information received on him by  the Police.The stock of Kerala Cannabis taken in to custody in possession of the suspect had supplied to him by a drug supplier in Jaffna it has been revealed.

The suspect is due to be produced before the court.
