A Businessman Was Arrested With 31 Gold Biscuits In Possession

Airport Customs officers have arrested

a 37 year old Sri Lankan Businessman who had attempted to smuggle 31 Gold Biscuits weighing 3.200 Kilo Grammes illegally to the country at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (08).

The suspect who is a resident of Hatton Area had been arrested on his arrival at Katunayake Airport From Chennai, India .

The Gold Biscuits were hidden inside the shoes and underwear of the suspect it has been revealed.The estimated Value of the stock of Gold Biscuits taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.20.8 million .

Airport Customs are conducting an investigations over the incident. 

A Fire Had Destroyed A Large Acres Of Land At Morethota Reserve

A Sudden fire erupted at Morethota

reserve in Hali-Ela,Badulla yesterday  (07)had destroyed around 50 acres of land belonging to the reserve it has been reported.

The spreading of the fire at the reserve had been contained and Hali'Ela Police believes that the fire may have caused due to the setting of fire to the forest by a group of persons or a person for the purpose  of hunting Animals .

Two Motorcyclists Have Critically Injured Due To Motorcycle -Train Collision

A Motorcyclist And a Pillion rider had

been critically injured and hospitalized After the Motorcycle ridden by them colliding with a Express Train travelling from Colombo to Batticaloa at an unprotected Railway crossing in Namal gama, Welikanda this morning (07).

The injured were admitted to Welikand a Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the Motorcycle had  attempted to cross the Railway line  it has been revealed

Welikanda Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.
