A Large Acres Of Land Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire In Knuckles

More than 200 Acres of land had been
dĺ to a huge fire erupted in Eastern part of the World Heritage "Knuckles" Mountain Reserve since last Thursday morning (02).

The fire has spread rapidly throughout the reserve due to the strong winds and dry weather prevailing in the area.

Authorities believes someone or a group might have lit a Fire at the reserve.
   

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To Wild Elephant Attack

A Motorcyclist  was killed due to a Wild
Elephant attack at Damana, Ampara last night(03).

The Motorcyclist had fallen in to a nearby Canal due to the Wild Elephant Attack and the Elephant got in to the Canal and attacked him continuously with  his leg it has been revealed.

The Villagers of the area had  admitted the critically injured person to Thottama hospital and he had succumbed to his injuries after transferring him to Ampara General Hospital.

A Person Was Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin

A 38 year old person had been arrested
by the officials attached to Anti Corruption Unit of the Bandarawela Police with 20 Mili Grammes of Heroin in his possession at Welgolla area in Diyathalawa last night (03).

The suspect had been arrested at his residence according to reports.

An Indian National Had Been Arrested With A Stock Of Gold

A 44 year old Indian National had been
arrested by the Airport Customs while attempting to smuggle around 2 .514 Kilo Grammes of Gold Biscuits and Jewelry in to the country illegally at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (03).

The suspect has hidden the stock of Gold Biscuits and Jewelry inside a Motor Technical Equipment Set  it has been revealed.The value of the stock of Gold brought by the Indian National is around Rs.10,61 million.

The suspected Indian National had been arrived fn Katunayake Airport From Dubai via Chennau.
