All Faculties Of The Peradeniya University Had Been Closed Until Further Notice

All faculties of the  University of Peradeniya had been closed until further notice by the University authorities with effect from today (27)due to the disruption of University Academic activities by a group of Engineering faculty students of the University .

The Hostal students of the University were requested to vacate from  their premises by 6 p.m today by the authorities.

The University of Peradeniya was closed as a result of a group of Engineering faculty students are occupying the Main University building by demanding to allow four students who were banned to sit  an Examination due to not fulfilling 80 percent attendance,  to sit for the exam.

Earlier authorities have banned the 4 students from sitting the examination.

Students who want to enter the University premises for an urgent requirements during the closure of the University  should have taken prior permission from either Chief Security Office or Disciplinary officer at the University it has been announced.

Two Persons Were Killed Due To A Road Accident

Two persons have been killed and one
person was critically injured and hospitalized   after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over at Massanna area on Balangoda-Samanalawatte road last evening (26).

A 56 year old person who was a resident of Massanna area was killed on the spot due to the Accident and one other person.had been pronounced dead after being hospitalized.

Two Police Officers Have Saved A Young Female From Committing Suicide

Two Police Officers attached to the Motor Traffic Unit of  the Katunayake Police have saved a 29 year old female who had attempted to commit suicide by jumping in front of a Train at Katunayake area last Wednesday
night(25).

The two Police Officers an Assistant Police Constable and a  Sergeant who were in mobile Police petrol have seen a Female walking in the rail track  towards a night office train travelling from Colombo to Chilaw last Wednesday  night and managed to give a sign to the Train drivers to slow down the speed of the Train through a Torch.

Afterwards the two Police Officers had jumped towards the female and pulled  her out of the Railway track as the Train was nearing .

The female who is attached to a Garment Factory in Katunayake was arrested by the Two Police Officers over attempting to commit suicide.The reason behind the suicide attempt has not yet been revealed.
