Navy And Police Have Launched A Joint Search Operation To Find A Missing Fisherman

Sri Lanka Navy and Police officers had launched a joint search operation to find a 45 year old fisherman who had fallen in to the sea while his Boat returning to ashore at modara -Moratuwa area yesterday(15).

The fisherman who is a resident of Liyangoda watte,Paragasthota area had fallen in to the sea after the Boat he was travelling in was about to be capsized as a result of the strong sea waves in mid sea area it has been revealed.

The missing fisherman along with three other fishermen had gone to the sea on last Saturday from Modara port.

Two Persons Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle 29 Gold Biscuits Out Of The Country

Airport Customs have arrested two persons who had attempted to smuggle 29 Gold Biscuits to Dubai this morning(16) at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The suspects who are 43 and 33 year old residents of Colombo and Mannar areas had pasted the stock of Gold Biscuits under a trolly which carried their luggage and attempted to snuggle them it has been revealed.

The Gold Biscuits taken in to custody in possession of the suspects weighing 2.9 Kilo Grammes and worth around Rs.10.88 million according to Customs.

A Confusion Over A Special Circular Issued To Lift The Glyphosate Ban On All Crops


A confusion occurred among Political circles today(15) over a Special Cercular issued by the Pesticide Registrar General on 11 th of Julu stating the lifting of the Ban imposed on Using of Glyphosate for all crops.

As many have criticized the circular including the Minister of Health And Cabinet Co -Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne,The Pesticide Registrar General is due to issue another Circular this week to assure that the Glyphosate Ban will be lifted only for Tea and Rubber crops.

As per a request made by Minister of Crops Navin Dissanayake the Glyphosate Ban will be not affected to Tea and Rubber from this year.

Meanwhile Cabinet Co-Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated that the Cabinet had lifted the ban on Glyphosate which was implemented in 2015 for all crops, only for Tea and Rubber.

No one can  take decisions by violating the Cabinet Decisions Minister has stressed.
