A Buddhist Monk Was Attacked By An Unknown Persons

Temple was injured and hospitalized after two unidentified persons covered their faces  assaulting him this morning (11).

The injured monk was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital for treatment.

The suspects were identified  as an activists of a political party and hey had tied the Buddhist monk in to a chair and assaulted him it has been revealed.

Malwathu /Hiripitiya police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

An Indian National Was Arrested With A Stock Of" Ice" Narcotic

Airport Customs officers had arrested an Indian
National with 514 grammes of  "Methamphtamine" narcotic known as "Ice" in his possession at Katunayake,Bandaeanaike International Airport this morning (11).

The stock of "Ice' narcotic was hidden inside the Indian national's luggage it has been revealed.

The suspect who had arrived in from an Airline from Kualalampur was arrested by the customs while leaving the Airport.

The estimated value of the stock of "Ice" taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.9.25 million.The suspect along with the stock of narcotics have been handed over to the  Police Narcotics Bureau for further action.

Sri Lanka Peoples Front Won 239 Out Of 342 Local Councils In Local Government Election

The newly formed Sri Lanka Peoples Front had won
239 councils out of 342 Urban,Municipal and Pradeshiya Sabha council which the election was held yesterday (10) according to the latest results.

The Governing United National Party had won 42 councils and main opposition Tamil National Alliance won 38 North and East councils.Sri Lanka Freedom Party led by President Maithripala Sirisena and United Peoples Freedom Alliance won 07 councils.

Meanwhile United Peoples Freedom Alliance who secured 04 seats in Hambanthota Municipal Council had decided to take the power of the Council won by United National Party with 09 seats ,by colliding with Sri Lanka Peoples Front which received 07 council seats.Due to this situation United National Party is at risk for loosing the Council which is the only Council the party had won in Hambanthota in this election.

The salient festure of today's events is after won majority of the councils MP' s belongs to Sri Lanka Peoples Front like Udaya Gammanpila,Wimal Weerawansha ,Pavithra Wanniarachchi,Johnston Fernando,G.L Pieris ,Namal Rajapakshe and other MP' s who were Ministers during previous regime and charged over fraud and corruption by present government urged the government to resign after the defeat in local government election.
