Ten Persons Were Arrested While On The Way To Worship "Sripada" With Stock Of Cannabis And Cigarettes

Police Officers attached to Anti Fraud Unit of the
Hatton Police have atrested 10 persons who were on the way to worship historical "Sri Pada" by carrying a stock of Cannabis and Cigarettes illegally at Diyagala area on last Saturday (23).

Police have taken in to custody around 11,000 mili grammes of Cannabis and two Cigarette packs contains Cigarettes in possession of the suspects and they were sniffed and detected by a specially trained dog belonging to the Police.

The suspects are due to produce before the Hatton Magistrate Court.

Three Persons Were Arrested With 100 Kilo Grammes Of "Mawa"Narcotic

Point Of Pedro Police have arrested three suspects
with 100 kilo grammes of "Mawa" narcotic which is a mixture of Cannabis and Tobacco in their possession at Imbasetty in Point Pedro last Saturday evening (23).

The narcotic believed to be brought from India by a boat according to the Police.

The suspects who are of the ages 45,40 and 47 years and residents of Point Of Pedro are involved in the narcotic trade from some time it has been revealed.

A team of Police Officers attached to Point Of Pedro police are investigating on the incident.

A Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed After The Motorcycle Caught Fire While Riding

A 25 year old youth was burnt to death after the

Motorcycle he was riding in suddenly caught fire and it spreads towards him at Araly,Kottekadu area in Jaffna last evening (24).

The youth was killed due to the severe burn injuries sustained as a result of the fire according to the Police.

Vaddukoddai Police are investigating on the incident.
