Three Persons Arrested Over Issuing Expired Insecticides And Pesticides

Special Police Task Force personal attached to the
Dambulle Police have arrested three persons who had been involved in a large scale business of pasting new labels to the expired Insecticide and Pesticide bottles and issuing them to the market in a Pesticide wrapping Center at Sigiriya area today (19).

Police officers had recovered a large stock of Insecticides,Liquid Fertilizers and Pesticides stored in the stores of the Center which were expired in 2013,2014 and 2015 but pasted with new labels stating they are due to expire in  2018 and 2020 during the raid.

A seal of a famous Agri Chemical company here too used for this business it has been reported.

A Bank Robbery Had Been Prevented In Ahangama

A person arrived in by  a Motorcycle with another
person to rob a state bank branch in Ahangama area had been injured and hospitalized due to  the security officer of the Bank had shot at him.Other person was arrested by the Security officers after falling to the ground when attempting to flee from the area.

The injured was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The gun shooting was taken a place when the two persons who were fully covered their faces attempting to rob the bank after entering it.

Cabinet Has Decided To Temporarily Suspend The Asbestos Ban

Cabinet has decided to temporarily  suspend the
decision taken regarding the ban the use of Asbestos which is scheduled to be imposed with effect from 01st of January 2018.

Earlier government has decided to ban the importing of raw materials  to manufacture the Asbestos products with effect from 01st of January 2018 and to ban the use of Asbestos products completely in the country by the year 2020.

Russia is one of the major countries supplying raw materials to Sri Lanka to manufacture Asbestos products and a rumour is spreading in the political circles that the government's decision to ban the importing of Asbestos raw materials led in to the tea ban imposed by Russia on Sri Lanka.
