Lotus Road In Colombo Has Been Closed Due To A Protest March

Image result for lotus road colomboLotus Road In Colombo has been temporarily closed down this noon(14) due to a protest march conducted by a State Bank Employees over several service demands it has been reported.

The group of Bank Employees had begun their protest march in front of the Inland Revenue Department  Building currently at World Trade Center Building according to reports.The protest March is being held by demanding solutions for several demands including avoid privatizing  state banks .

Due to the protest march a severe traffic congestion has been reported from Lake House roundabout in Colombo Fort.

Geminid Meteor Showers To Be Visible To Sri Lanka Clearly Tomorrow

The Meteors with the colors Blue,Green,White ,Yellow and Red will be the final Meteor showers which will be visible to Sri Lanka this year and it can be viewed after 9 p.m tomorrow(14) in eastern skies,upper part of the skies during midnight and western skies during early morning it has been stated.

The Geminid Meteor showers can be seen as a falling stars around 120 Meteors will be fallen per hour according to the experts.The Best time to view the Meteor showers is between 2 a.m to 4 a.m on tomorrow it has been revealed.

Health Minister To Submit A Cabinet Proposal On Using Newly Introduced "Wolbachia" Bacteria Here To Control The Spreading Of Dengue

Image result for wolbachia bacteria injected aedes aegyptiHealth Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne is due to submit a Cabinet Paper to the Cabinet to get an approval to use the "Wolbachia" Bacteria   discovered by a group of scientists in University Of Monash in Australia to prevent spreading of Dengue Virus   here soon.

Releasing of the  Dengue Mosquito "Aedis Aegypti "  injected with "Wolbachia" Bacteria  in to the environment in view of preventing the spreading of Dengue is currently underway successfully in countries like Australia,Vietnam,Brazil,Indonesia and Colombia according to the Ministry Of Health.

To implement a pilot project in selected areas of the island regarding the releasing of "Wolbachia" Bacteria injected "Aedis Aegypti  "Mosquitoes due to be done with the technical assistance of the Monash University,Australia and the Australian Government is providing Australian Dollars one million for this project the Ministry has stated.
