A Tusker Has Died Due To An Electrocution

A tusker has died due to an electrocution in a paddy
field at Alagollawa in Anuradhapura District last evening (09) according to the Wildlife officers.

Ritigala Wildlife Officers had recovered the body of the Tusker who was the third tusker to be killed
During last two weeks.

The tusker believed to be of the age around 15-20 years old.

Police had arrested the owner of the Paddy field regarding the tusker's death.

The Post Mortem of the deceased tusker due to be held today (09).

President Maithripala Sirisena Had Signed A Special Gazette Notification By Declaring Train Service An Essential Service

President Maithripala Sirisena had signed a special
Gazette notification last night (08) to declare Train service an essential service with effect from this morning (09).

The Gazette notification had sent to the Government Printer already it has been announced.

President has decided to declare the  Train service an essential service due to the ongoing island wide continuous strike action of Train drivers,Station Masters and Train Guards which have paralyzed the Train services of the country.

A large number of long distance and office trains had been cancelled since the launching of the strike which caused enormous difficulties to the commuters.

The talks held between Railway trade unions and Transport Ministry authorities as well as with Presidential Secretary Austin Fernando had  failed and due to this situation the Railway trade unions have  decided to continue the strike.

Train drivers had launched the strike on midnight last Wednesday (06) against the government's mechanism of recruiting the assistant Train drivers to the Railway department and Station Masters and Train Guards joined the strike from Wednesday .

The Railway Trade Unions are due to meet today to discuss on their future action it has been reported.

The former Sri Lankan Cricketer and the head coach of
the Bangladeshi National Cricket Team Chandika Hathurusinghe is due to be appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team with effect from 20th of December according to the Sri Lanka Cricket.

Hathurusinghe is due to sign an agreement with Sri Lanka Cricket regarding the Head Coach post.

He was managed to improve the performances of the Bangladeshi National Cricket Team during his tenure.Hathurusinghe had coached The Sri Lankan A Cricket team from 2009 to 2010.

Former Assistsnt Coach of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team Nick Pothas is currently functioning as the acting Head Coach of the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team.

A Stock Of 1.6 Million Illegal Cigarette Sticks Had Been Recovered In Orugodawatte Container Yard

Harbor customs officers had recovered 1.6 million
illegally imported Cigarette sticks hidden inside a Container at Orugodawatte ,Container Yard this noon (08).

The Container with illegal Cigarette Sticks had been imported from Dubai by stating that  they were Gas Cookers it has been revealed.

The value of the Cigarette Sticks is around Rs.80 million .

Two Persons Arrested In Palai Area Over Transporting Cannbis

Kilinochchi Police had arrested two persons including a Bus driver while transporting 12 Kilo Grammes of Cannabis in a Luxury Bus from Point Of Pedro,Jaffna  to Kurunagala at Palai area yesterday(07).

One suspect had been remanded until 21st of December ,while other suspect who was a driver of the Bus transported Cannabis had been released after due to given a justified cause to prove his innocence after been produced them before the Kilinochchi District Court.

Kilinochchci Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.
