A Private Bus Conductor Who Had Stolen Goods From More Than 100 Houses, Arrested

A private bus conductor who had stolen goods from
more than  100 houses in 06 police divisions had been arrested by the Mirihana special investigations unit with around 1200 mili grammes of narcotics in his possession in Dehiwala area.

The suspect had stolen Rs.5 million worth goods from houses including 07 laptop computers,100 mobile phones,gold jewelry and electrical appliances it has been revealed.

The suspect had sold many goods that stolen by him toothrr persons.

Health Minister Has Instructed Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara To Appoint Dr.Malwattage As Acting MOIC Of Prisons Hospital

Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne had instructed
the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara to appoint Dr.J.A Malwattage as the new Acting Medical Officer in Charge (MOIC) of the Welikada Prisons Hospital with effect from today , after transferring the acting MOIC Dr.Nirmali Thenuwara who is charged over helping political prisoners to admit Prison hospital on fake reasons.

Dr.Nirmali Thenuwara has been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital the Ministry has stated.

Minister had instructed on the transfer after meeting with doctors attached to the prisons hospital yesterday (26) at the Ministry.

Health Minister Dr.Senaratne has instructed the New Acting MOIC of Welikada Prisons Hospital dr.Malwattage to investigate on the lapses of the prison hospital and correct them within a  two week period.

A Bus Conductor Was Killed On The Spot Due To The Private Bus-Lorry Collision

A private bus conductor  was killed on the spot and
three others injured after a private bus colliding with a back of a small lorry transporting fish and a tree nearby in Udappuwa junction on Puttalam-Chilaw road in the wee hours of this morning (26).

The private bus travelling from Vavuniya to Colombo collided with the Lorry transporting fish from jaffna and the injured who are passengers of the private bus including the driver had been admitted to the Chilaw Base Hospital for treatment.

The irresponsible driving of the Bus driver and the high speed of the Bus had caused the accident according to the Police.




Around 30 Persons Suspected As Rohingya Refugees Have Been Taken Into Custody By Police In Mount Lavinia


Around 30 persons suspected as Rohingya Refugees of
Myanmar (Burma) had been taken into custody while staying in a condemonium (Flats)in Mount Lavinia area.

The persons have been taken into custody after a group of buddhist monks protested in front of the house scheme against them.

The suspected refugees had been handed over to the United nations high commission for refugees after found staying in kankasanthurai area without visas and later they were settled in Mirihana detention center it has been reported.

Afterwards the group have been settled in the housing scheme by United Nations office in colombo it has been revealed.

The group  have been later taken to the Bussa Army camp after a group of Buddhist monks protested in front of the housing scheme against their presence and houses the group were in reported as damaged.

A Driver Was Killed And Eleven Persons Have Been Injured Due To A Van -Cab Collision

A 36 year old person was killed and eleven others
injured and hospitalized after a van colliding with a back of a cab in Galewela area today (26).

The injured were admitted to the Galewela provincial hospital and seven of them later transferred to Dambulle base hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the van was killed due to the incident and eleven persons including six women have been injured due to the accident.

The accident was occurred due to the irresponsible and high speed driving the police have stated,

The deceased had been identified as a resident of pallepola,Matale and Galewela police are conducting an investigation on the incident.
