Four Houses In Meethotamulle Destroyed Due To A Fire

Four houses including three temporary plank houses
and a permenant house in wadugodawatte at meethotamulle (Colombo)were destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted this evening (23).

The fire brigade of the Colombo Urban Council Police  and the residents of the area had doused the fire.The cause of the fire not yet been revealed.

A 15 Year Old School Boy Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 15 year old school boy had killed after the
Motorcycle he was driving in  veering off the road near the Kadurugaswewa school on Kakirawa-Thalawa main road.

The critically injured school boy had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Thalawa Hospital.

A Large Stock Of Banned "Glyphosate" Chemical Had Been Recovered In Orugodawatte Container Yard

Sri Lanka customs officers had recovered  around
17,687 Kilo Grammes of banned chemical "Glyphosate" in a central container yard at Orugodawatte today (23).

The stock of the chemical which is banned here stored in 987 bags it has been reported.

The stock was imported to Sri Lanka on the pretext of urea fertilizer and the value of the stock is around Rs.60 million according to the authorities.

Plans Of Constructing The Proposed SAARC Medical Collage Due To Be Finalized In December-Health Minister

The plans of the construction work of  proposed
SAARC (South Asian Association For Regional corporation) Medical Collage due to be set up in Colombo ,Sri Lanka will be finalized by this December according to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

The director of the SAARC Secretariat had proposed the idea of setting up the SAARC Medical collage in the region during the SAARC Health Minister's summit held recently and Health Minister Dr.Senaratne had proposed to set up the Medical Collage in Sri Lanka which was approved by other member countries.

After setting up of the Medical Collage in Colombo, the medical students of the SAARC Region can commence tneir studies at the Collage under an  easy payment scheme Dr.Senaratne has stated.
